Program Title: Cognitive Assessment in Occupational Therapy Faculty Name: Jenny Womack MA, MS, OTR/L, SCDCM, FAOTA Discipline: Occupational Therapy Description: This three-to-four hour program provides an overview of various types of cognitive screenings and assessments used in occupational therapy and differentiates the purpose of cognitive assessment related to occupational performance from other disciplines’ reasons for assessing cognitive capacities. Examples will be drawn primarily from adult practice in OT and will cover neurological and older adult populations. Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to: 1. Identify occupational performance deficits as well as cognitive capacities assessed with various types of tools. 2. Differentiate the characteristics of cognitive assessments developed in occupational therapy practice from other types of measures. 3. Relate cognitive abilities to occupational performance and the results of cognitive assessments to associated performance deficits.
