We are reaching the end of another action packed year in Northern Schools. It has been a pleasure to work
with children and families as well as share the many achievements together. As the year ends, we wish
Mrs Wynne farewell and good luck, as well as Mrs Pugh. We also wish you all a safe and happy summer
holiday and look forward to seeing you in September, when we will welcome the new YR children as well
as Mrs Anderson and Miss Willets to our teaching team.
Summer Fayre
Many thanks to all of you who attended the
summer fayre. We were lucky with the weather and
enjoyed a fabulous community event. Our thanks to
Mrs Kerley and the FONS team for all of their hard
work. We are delighted to let you know that it
raised approximately £1400.
YR
Lion and Panda class thoroughly enjoyed their
train trip to Victoria Park in Portsmouth as part
of our topic on transport. The children loved
spotting many different forms of transport in
the area. They enjoyed searching for different
vehicles and created a tally sheet as a record of
what they saw. An ice cream van appearing was
the best end to the activity!
Sports Day
Second time lucky! We were delighted with the
wonderful feedback from children and families
who attended our federated sports day this year. It
was a busy day indeed and great to see so many
people come along. Well done to everyone who
took part and especially the winning team, Saturn!
Years 1 and 2
Our Year 1 and 2 children loved dressing up as
pirates on Friday to celebrate the end of our Pirate
topic. They had a great day, enjoying treasure
hunts to find gold, as well as playing pirate games
on the field to practise commands. We even ate
Hard Tack biscuits, which were disgusting!
Everyone looked so impressive in their pirate
costumes and everyone was really proud of the
pirate accessories that we made.

Learning Logs
Parent Partnership is an element of school life
which we truly believe in at Northern and we
know what a difference it really makes to your
child’s learning. With a New National
Curriculum has come new and increased
expectations. We will be sending out a
summary sheet tomorrow to help you be able
to quickly see the main changes.
In September, we will be launching a new home
school learning log. It will be full of ideas of
ways to support your children at home and will
be offering rewards for children who work hard
on their homework.
