Tree Cutting Plan – Willows and Front Lawn

Tree Cutting Plan – Willows and Front Lawn
It is a number of years since the tree on the front lawn was pruned, and the willows along the
water’s edge pollarded. It is now time to cut them again as they have all grown significantly.
It is planned to prune the tree on the front lawn back to where it was pruned last time.
The willows however are a slightly different matter. There are several willow trees along the water’s
edge, despite a number having been removed over the years. Pollarding is expensive and can only be
done by tree surgeons due to the aerial nature of the work, and in around six or seven years will
need to be done again. Therefore we plan to remove one or two tree trunks where there are several
growing close together, but still leaving at least one tree behind. This will reduce the cost of
pollarding both this year and in the future, but we will keep the aesthetics of willow trees along the
water’s edge.
It will also clear a bit more space in the boatpark, and improve clearance for masts going to and from
the slipways.
Below is a diagram showing the location of the willow trees with photos of the actual trees. The ones
marked with a yellow cross are the ones planned to be removed.

Cutting is planned for before the end of March.
