Fall Bocce League Policies Play Off Rules The top 3 teams of each night will play each other for over all night champions and then the Monday night champion will play the Tuesday night champion for Over all Fall Bocce League Champions! The game format for the top 3 teams will be 1 12 point game, with each team playing each other in one single night. In the event of a tie afterwards there will be a sudden death match with all three teams. In the event that TRW has a tie for first, second or third place, a play off will ensue. The format depends on the number of teams. For a two team tie, they will play each other and winner takes all. For a three team tie, each team will play the other, and the team with the most wins during the play off games wins the league. For a four team tie, a single elimination tournament will ensue. For five or more team ties, a tournament will be chosen at Truckee River Winery’s discretion. Play off games and times may be different than regular season days and times, however Truckee River Winery will give adequate notice and work with teams to create a date and time where everyone may play. Play off games will be 2-12 point rounds with a 6 point tie breaker and there will be a time limit, except in the case of a three or more way tie, then they will be 1 single game of 12 points. A referee will be available for play off matches and is chosen by Truckee River Winery staff. The referee will only make judgments if neither team can agree on points, rules and scores. The referee will not monitor the game for rule violations or scoring violations, merely to be there as a third party observer and help solve disputes. Teams are responsible for knowing all league rules and monitoring/regulating violations. Every player must be on the team roster and have signed it, paid their fee and played a least 1 game in regular season. A minimum of 4 players per team must attend play off games. Players may not rotate or substitute during a round. In the event of a tie after playoff games, a sudden death match will occur, with be determined. details to Fall Bocce League Policies Sudden Death Rules In the event that TRW has a tie for first place after our playoffs, a sudden death will occur. Sudden Death Rules: 1. Each team picks 2 members from their team to throw in the Sudden Death Match. 2. A referee will place the pallino on the court. 3. The referee will determine which team will start, and each team’s players will throw their bocces in succession. 4. The referee will measure the distance of each bocce to the pallino and add the distances together. 5. The bocces are removed, the pallino replaced to the original position if needed, and the next team throws. 6. When all teams are finished throwing and distances calculated. The team will the smallest cumulated distance wins. Every player must be on the team roster and have signed it, paid their fee and played a least 1 game during the regular season and played during the playoff games. No volo throws are allowed for sudden death. No catcalling, gestures or nastiness is allowed while other players throw, this is considered a gentlemen’s game, and thus we need to respect each other and be ladies and gentlemen during play. All bocce balls will be measured after the final throw to ensure accuracy and the referee will measure with a spotter from each team.
