The Diverse Colors of Roberta’s Art Gallery
Roberta’s Art Gallery showcases a free tie dying workshop at the campus Involvement Fair
WHITEWATER, Wis., September 14th, Students pack the campus grounds just south of the
James R. Connor University Center every year to take part in the university’s “Involvement
Fair.” Most campus groups set up stands with the hopes of informing students all about their
organization. Roberta’s Art Gallery provided a free tie dying workshop in attempts to connect
students to the gallery and UC in a fun, creative way.

Roberta’s quickly became a hot-spot for students as the workshop handed out all 200 T-shirts,
and additional University Center hand towels, within the first two hours. The participants were
given a shirt and instructed how to create a proper tie dye. Each person would choose from over
25 different colors to dye with and then design their shirt however they liked. The shirts were
then sent home to set for 24 hours, after which students would thoroughly rinse them with cold
water by themselves. After that the shirt can be worn and washed with any other regular clothes.
“I really enjoyed seeing how many people were genuinely interested in learning something new,”
commented the Gallery Workshop Lead Brittany Soboleski. “The students were really listening

to all our different tie dye techniques. I think the event really exposed the Art Gallery to the
campus and many more students will come to our next event.”
The next event coming up is the Rock Cactus Workshop on September 30th, from 3pm to 5pm,
where students will be making their own personal home plant that will never die. Each rock will
be painted and turned into a DIY home décor.
