This week we have been continuing our current topic ‘All About Me’. Each child drew a family portrait and gave meaning to marks they had made. Please remember to come and have a look at these pictures in the adult directed literacy files during our open classroom on Thursday after school. Children now have their merit charts inside their drawers which they are beginning to take responsibility for. The merit charts must be kept in the drawers at school. If your child has any merit stickers at home from the first two weeks at school, they may bring them into school and add them to their chart. Last Friday the children took part in their first PE lesson and took great steps towards getting undressed and dressed independently. They all did extremely well and I was really impressed. Once in the hall, we talked about keeping safe and played some car racing games with hoops to help us negotiate the space successfully. I have heard rave reviews about PE since then so I hope they enjoy PE this week just as much! Our topic for this half term is ‘All About Me’. WB 19/9/16 We listened to the story ‘Funnybones’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg and talked about the purpose of bones inside our bodies. The children have been arranging the bones to form a human skeleton and created their own skeleton pictures using white chalk on black paper. Reception began to attend whole school assemblies this week with the rest of the school. On Monday we found out about Ms Sassoli’s trip to a School in Africa. On Tuesday afternoon we attended singing assembly and began to practise some hymns for the Harvest Festival at Church. A big well done to all of the children this week for learning to come into the classroom by themselves! Look out for the paper bag challenge which children will bring home this Friday…. Next week we will be talking about Harvest in preparation for the Harvest Festival at Church on Friday 30th September. We will walk to the church as a class and hope to see you all there. Please let us know if you are able to walk with us.
