Weekly Newsletter What we have been doing this week. DON’T FORGET MONDAY IS AN INSET DAY. WE WILL BE CLOSED. This week has been an exciting and busy week with lots of activities going on. The children all went to the National History Museum which was such a fantastic trip. The children were all asking some good questions and taking in lots of information, Of course the best bit was going on a big coach. All the children behaved well and listened to all the safety rules and demonstrated that they had listen. We were all really proud of all the children. They all demonstrated the skills of dependent learners and at this age this is an amazing skill to achieve. WOW moments for all the children. Be very proud of your little ones. On the coach ready to go At the Museum We also celebrated World Book Day, all the children looked fanastic. We enjoyed a range of stories and some of the children acted then out. In Family links we have been looking at Choices and Consequences. The techniques we use at Pre-School teaches the children that every action has an outcome, and that their use of personal power will determine it. The children realise that they are responsible for their own actions. The technique avoids head-on conflict and power struggles, keeping the adult in charge without rendering the child powerless. https://www.familylinks.org.uk/parents#free-downloads-for-parents In letters and Sounds we have been looking at Tuning into Sounds. The Main purpose was to; develop awareness of sounds and rhythms. We used Action songs. Singing songs and action rhymes is a vital part of Phase One activities and should be an everyday event. Children need to develop a wide repertoire of songs and rhymes. We included multi-sensory experiences such as action songs in which the children have to add claps, knee pats and foot stamps or move in a particular way. Adding body percussion sounds to nursery rhymes, performing the sounds in time to the beat. Change the body sound with each musical phrase or sentence. We encourage the children to be attentive and to know when to add sounds, when to move, and when to be still. We have also been looking at each child’s number recognition and supporting them through their play. Next Week we will be starting some Forest School sessions with the foundation class, Mrs Stanley has very kindly let us come and see what it’s all about. One member of staff from pre-school will be going with 4 children. The Sessions will be on a Tuesday am and Wednesday am and pm. You don’t need to bring anything as we will supply everything they need. Please just make sure they do have spare clothes. If your child isn’t in on that day please don’t worry as they will get a chance after half term. If you have any questions then please come and speak to me. Health and Safety/Safeguarding To make sure that everyone is aware we have two nominated people at pre-school who are responsible for safeguarding the children. The first nominated person is myself (Becky) and the second is Faye. We are both fully trained and update our training annually. All other members of staff are trained to generalist safeguarding and have excellent knowledge and experience of safeguarding children. We have weekly staff meetings which enable us to keep up to date on new legislation and training.
