JUROR STATEMENT
CHARLES WISSINGER
First I want to thank the Art Center Staff for giving me the opportunity to jury this
show. Choosing the work to be exhibited was a difficult task. The broad range of
media categories coupled with personal stylistic and conceptual approaches made
it impossible to establish an overall theme. The wide range of artistic skills that
were evident made the jury process more difficult – a classic case of comparing
apples with oranges.
The pieces that I found most appealing were those that exhibited a creative spark
such as novel stylistic or conceptual approaches or media use. Also, I considered
craftsmanship - how well the piece was made and how professionally it was presented. To those novices who submitted, (“keep working at it”).
