Awarding a Sports/Games Bursary to
elite Worthing High School Sports Students
Aim:
1. To recognise top flight sporting achievement
2. To financially support elite ability students with their travel costs to attend major sporting
competitions nationally and internationally
3. To financially support elite ability students with kit/equipment costs to allow them to
participate unhindered at major sporting competitions nationally and internationally
4. To support mainstream students who fall into the pupil premium category to ensure
Worthing High School helps to raise attainment of disadvantaged pupils, who meet the
criteria outlined.
Criteria required:








Successful, recognised performance at regional (Southern Counties/South East) and/or
national level
Affiliation to a NGB (National Governing Body)
A consistently good standard of behaviour throughout the school
A good level of attendance (95%+)
An excellent level of attainment throughout all subjects, achieving most target grades and
working very hard to achieve those that are not currently met
Attendance at extra-curricular sporting clubs
Representation of Worthing High School at extra-curricular activities
Agreement to promote Worthing High School where appropriate.
Awarding a Sports/Games Bursary
Students in need of financial assistance through a lack of funding from their sporting body/NGB, or
family circumstances, will be considered as a priority in the first instance.
An amount between £50-£100 for students who meet the criteria, following the selection process,
will be awarded a Worthing High School Sports/Games Bursary.
Students can only apply for one Sports/Games Bursary per academic year.
