ACT GREYHOUND SUPPORT NETWORK AVAILABLE DOGS – June

ACT GREYHOUND SUPPORT NETWORK AVAILABLE DOGS
Russell
6 years old
Russell is a loving and affectionate boy looking for
someone to spend his retirement with. Russell’s
favourite pastimes are sleeping, eating and
following his human from room to room.
He is currently in foster care in a small apartment
where his foster mum works full-time hours. He
enjoys a nice slow walk 2 to 3 times a day and
snoozing while she works. He loves to see
everything when out, exploring new smells and
bushes. When he gets tired he will let you know,
walking slowly nudging you to tell you it is time for
home.
Untested with other dogs and cats but can be
arranged.
Bella
4 years old
Bella loves pats, walks and food, but once those
needs are satisfied she’ll happily find herself a
comfy spot to relax. She’s fully toilet trained, sleeps
peacefully through the night and will quickly fit into
the household routine. She copes fine with being
left alone – though of course welcoming you home
is much more exciting than seeing you leave. If she
does have company, she far prefers big doggos
rather than small ones or cats.

Fred
5 years old
Mr Fred is a bright spark and loves food (apparently
he goes wild for bananas!!) making him infinitely
trainable. He is a playful dog and great with
children, though he'll trick them into giving him
their snacks, and playing chase or tugs with anyone
who will join in.
He is very affectionate and loves cuddles and hugs.
He likes to have his own bed as a go to safe place
but you will usually find him on a chair or the
couch.
He loves to run and does zoomies around the
house which look very funny as he sort of bows
down and runs at the same time.
Fred is exceptionally smart and will need training
and mental stimulation or he'll go looking for
adventures on his own!
Fiona
5 years old
Fiona is a dear little darling who has settled into the
life of a royal very well. Her favourite princess
duties are as follows: lying around looking
beautiful, cuddling, wearing a glamorous wardrobe,
eating LOTS of yummy treats, lying around a little
bit more and occasionally going out on walkies to
bless the public with her presence. She is very
social with big dogs and is quite patient having put
up with her boisterous foster brothers (she thinks
they are very uncouth). She is not such a fan of
little dogs or cats, she thinks that they are beneath
her both literally and figuratively. That doesn't
matter though because adores her humans, no
matter what size or variety they come in, big or
small doesn't matter as long as they know how to
give her a good ear rub and share the best snacks.
She thinks the little ones are perfect because 1)
they can't move once she has settled in for a
cuddle and 2) all snacks are at eye level for easy
pickings.

Indie – cat tolerant
6 years old
Indie is a confident, classy lady who knows what
she wants. She is very friendly with children and
grownups, but especially fancies adult male
company - she loves a snuggle! Indie is fully toilet
trained and calmly sleeps in her room at night. She
loves playing with her favourite soft toys in the
backyard, especially squeaky ones as well as doing
“zoomies” in the backyard, but spends most of her
day lying down. She loves nothing more than
having a comfy bed to sleep all day and stretch her
sleek, long legs. She loves her beauty sleep so much
that gets a fright if something approaches her too
quietly.
Indie loves people and is a warm, loving, and an
affectionate lady. Otherwise composed, she can’t
contain her tail’s happiness when greeting familiar
faces. Her enthusiastic “kisses” make up for any
bad day at work.
Johnny
4 years old
Johnny is a gentle giant around both children and
adults. He has endless patience and tolerance and
very quickly succumbs to keen pats and cuddles,
which turn him floppy.
He is a beautiful, bright boy who just wants to
please you. He is a big fan of cheese and peanut
butter and will do anything to get some. Johnny is a
quick learning and has impeccable table manners,
waiting patiently for his food. He is mastering
commands such as 'stay', 'no' as well as ‘bed’ and
quickly became a pro at stair climbing. Johnny loves
humans and wants to greet and sniff everyone
during his walks. He is learning to walk well on the
lead.
Johnny enjoys the company of his greyhound foster
sister and lets her get away with too much, like
sleeping with her legs on his face.
Johnny has a good stamina, but also enjoys some
quiet time during the day. He is ready for his
bedtime around 7pm and quietly sleeps in his room

Gem
5 years old
Gem is a tiny, soft, natured gentle girl, who is
adjusting extremely well to being a house dog. Gem
travels well in the car and thoroughly enjoys her
outings. She is a pleasure to walk and does very
well on a loose lead. She does like to get a bit of
speed up which is great for humans wishing for
some fitness training but she also walks very nicely
right by your side when it’s time for the cool down.
People are very important to Gem and she shows
her delight by wagging her tail and smiling as they
approach. She is most pleased to get pats from
anyone including young children. Gem loves to be
included in the family life, whether it be lying on
her bed in the proximity of busy or relaxing humans
or slinking in for hugs and pats while you are
working in the garden. She also relishes in a quick
play with her squeaky toys.
Elsa – cat tolerant
2 years old
Elsa, or Elly as she has come to be known, loves
having love and affection bestowed upon her! She
is active and playful and is enjoying learning about
being a pet. Elly loves nothing more than to stand
in front of you and have her head patted and her
ears stroked.
Elly currently cohabitates with another greyhound
and a cat. She also has three boisterous little boys
in her home and is happy and settled. Elly has
understands how to take food from her foster
family when it is offered and to leave it alone when
it is not.
Elly is happy on her own outside in the sunshine or
hanging out with company and is housetrained. She
settles into her bed at night time with a cuddly
friend and goes to sleep like a good little girl.

Piper is always so happy to see everyone and she
loves doing zoomies. She loves giving kisses too!
She is a bright young girl, is completely toilet
trained, crate trained herself and her foster
brother, Bruno taught her how to walk up stairs.
Piper is energetic and she loves to play with Bruno
and her foster Mum. She is perfectly content for
morning and evening walks and tends to sleep the
rest of the day. When a walk can't be managed,
she's completely happy with a kong, a snuffle mat
full of treats and other hidden treats around the
house. When she's alone, she'll benefit from crate
training or a bedroom that she considers her safe
space, where she can retreat. When she's left with
Bruno, they play together before falling asleep.
Loki – cat tolerant
2 years old
Loki is a delightful dog, cat friendly and small dog
friendly and is very good with children. He LOVES
doing zoomies around the backyard and a very
good boy on the lead (never pulls). Affectionate
and loves rubs for hours (if you're willing). He is
happiest in the house sleeping on his dog bed 90%
of the time and will find ANYWHERE to sleep.

Jack, is fully toilet trained and very trustworthy
around the house. He spends most of his day curled
up in front of the heater or in a sunny spot in the
front room.Jack walks well on a lead and has good
stamina. He’s not keen on cats. He will return barks
with other dogs when on the lead, but generally
not when off-leash.

tolerant and calm around young children. He loves
people and is a warm, loving, and affectionate
animal. He’s a big softy at heart.

Brock
5 years old
Brock is a true sweetheart who breaks hearts
everywhere with his big eyes and quiet nature. He
loves nothing better than having a comfy couch to
sleep on all day so he can stretch his long legs. He
also loves doing some zoomies in the backyard and
exploring everything he can find.
He loves going for walks where he can meet lots of
new people and say hello. Brock is toilet trained
and is always happy to jump in the car for
adventures. He will suit a family or a working
professional well as he is very adaptable to your
schedule.
Lucy
3 years old
Lucy is a very energetic and loving young girl. We
think she would be suited to an energetic family
who would like to walk her nearly every day and
take her on their adventures. She travels well in the
car and sits down once she's taken in enough of the
outdoors. She is very, very affectionate and loves to
be cuddled and patted and will nudge at you for
more pats.
Lucy would prefer to live with a companion, she’s
currently with another greyhound and hasn’t been
tested with small dogs. She is not cat tolerant.
Ollie
4 years old
Ollie is an affectionate and cheerful boy, very
energetic for a greyhound! He loves to play,
particularly with kids and also loves his zoomies!
But like any growing youngster, he plays hard and
then enjoys a nice long sleep. He's learning
commands fast and is being crate-trained. He had
an accident with his tail so part of it had to be
removed. We don't know exactly what caused it,
but knowing him, it was from wagging it too hard.
This boy is happy, loving addition to any home.

zoomies and play with his foster brother. He is

people in the morning with a bit of a nudge when
he wants to go outside.
Stevie loves humans and dogs alike and would
prefer a home with a doggo companion. He loves
his people and is very affectionate and would be a
loved pet for any family.
