charity basketball event (Metro Detroit/Saginaw Valley Basketball Challenge/Christmas
Basketball Tournament) to benefit high school athletic programs and inner city at risk youth.

This exciting six day event will be held in two locations, West Bloomfield High School on
Saturday, December 10 and Saturday, December 17. Ypsilanti High School will host the next
four tournament dates December 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2011.
The funds provided by this event will be used for; financial burden athletic programs,
academic and athletic scholarships, equipment, officials, camps, clinics, in and out of school
tutoring programs, travel cost to participate in player exposure events.
Metro Detroit Basketball Coaches Association’s mentoring program assist students by
implementing hand on activities designed to improve school performance, increase
graduation rates, and reduce other behaviors such as physical abuse and substance usage.

Christmas Classic
This exciting six day event will feature highly rated high school boys and girls
basketball teams from Michigan and the Midwest. The tournament will also
showcase many of the most highly respected basketball coaches in Michigan.
The Metro Detroit Saginaw Valley Challenge will bring all the top high school
basketball teams from the recently expanded Saginaw Valley Conference to
compete against Metro Detroit area high school basketball teams. These teams
will challenge each other in basketball games at West Bloomfield High School on
December 10, & December 17, 2011. Teams will play five challenge games on
each date. The teams with the most victories win the tournament challenge.
The Metro Detroit Basketball Coaches Christmas Classic will feature high school
boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from all over Michigan and the Midwestern
states. These teams will compete at Ypsilanti High School on December 27, 28,
29, and 30, 2011. There will be five games a day for four consecutive days. The
tournament will award a champion in the following events; three -pointshooter, foul shots, one –on- one, dunk contest, and most outstanding player
award. The tournament will have great media coverage, strong community
support, and a tremendous fan following.
Metro Detroit Basketball Coaches Association membership consists of high
school head coaches and administrators. MDBCA gives coaches and student
athletes the necessary tools to raise their competitive level in the game of
basketball. We touch on virtually all aspects of basketball for the coach and
player; education, college academic preparation, fundamentals training camp,
basketball officials training, summer leagues, showcases, league challenges,
Christmas Tournaments, school grants, athletic scholarships, camps, and clinics.
The mission of the Metro Detroit Basketball Coaches Association is to promote
and support organized competitive basketball for all grade levels in an
educational setting or environment. We enhance and improve the player’s
fundamentals skills of the game, and foster a positive environment of
education, sportsmanship, character, discipline, respect, and commitment.
