arid climates. They are:
• Succulence: capture water
and store it in their leaves,
stems or roots.
• Drought tolerant plants: have
strategies that help them
tolerate drought
• Drought avoiding plants:
only ‘live’ when there is
water available. When it is
dry they lie dormant.
