Funding
Big Lottery Fund announces £50m extra charity and community
funding
The Big Lottery Fund announced at least £50 million of extra good cause
cash across England, all of which will be awarded before the end of the
financial year, to provide immediate relief, much of it with (almost) no
questions asked. They are going to offer cash to 1,000 Big Lottery Fund
grant holders across England who have a grant coming to an end within the
next 18 months. They will simply encourage them to use this money and
time to consider how best to sustain and secure the impact of their work.
They are also offering an extra year's worth of funding.
They have put some extra money into the Reaching Communities and
Awards for All programme pots, enabling them to support hundreds more of
the really strong proposals for funding received recently. The funding has
been and will be awarded to around 650 additional projects from debt advice
to family support services. Find out more.
Channel4 Big Decision
Five project areas have been identified through Channel 4’s Big Decision, in
which people from across the UK fed back where they wanted £10 million of
Lottery funding to go. One grant recipient will be selected from each of the 5
project areas. The five grant recipients will be filmed by Channel 4 for a new
five-part series to air in late 2012. Applicants must consent to be filmed
throughout the development of their project, as this is a key requirement of
the programme.
Grants of £1.5 million and £2 million are available for projects lasting for up
to two years. Five grants will be made, one from each project type category.
Development grants of up to £50,000 are available to all applicants invited
to stage two to help them develop the project to meet the stage two
requirements. The programme will fund the purchase of vehicles, the
construction of new facilities or the refurbishment and extension of existing
capital facilities. The deadline for completed applications is 2pm on 13
December 2011. Find out more.

challenges.
The seminar will be chaired by Iona Joy, Head of Charity Effectiveness at
NPC, who herself has experience of being a trustee. The fee for the seminar
is £25 plus VAT. Book online.
