She has been in Tae Kwon Do for 3 years, fought in 21 tournaments and won 18 gold medals and 3 silver. Chloe has not lost a fight in over a year and is headed to Toronto on May 13th to compete and then she is off to Calgary on May 24th to fight in the National Canadian Championships. Chloe receives her training under Master Porter at the Inner Strength Tae Kwon Do school in Wellington. We are proud of her accomplishments and wish her continued success! Grade 6 Orientation: On May 16th Oldfield and Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary students will be visiting and on May 17th students from Holland Road and Waverley will be joining us from 10:00 – 11:30. Students will be treated to a snack and a tour of the school. An information package will also be provided and we look forward to meeting our future students. Turning Point Essay Winners - The Turning Points Essay competition is open to students in Grades 6-12. Cash prizes are awarded for essays recommended by a panel of judges. In addition, The Learning Partnership will publish essays in a collection of Turning Point Essays from across Canada. This year we had several students participate in this contest and we are proud to announce that a few of our students here at Georges P Vanier, took top prizes. The attire is casual, not formal. The cost is $7.00 per person and must be paid for by June 21. Money will not be accepted at the door. Grade 6 students from our feeder schools and grade 9 students will be welcomed if they are signed in and approved. Celebrating Student Success: Our Awards Ceremony will be held on June 27th at 10am in the gymnasium. Students will be recognized for their academic and athletic achievements. Other awards include PEBS, Citizenship and Band. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their accomplishments together. School Clothing: Georges P. GUIDANCE NEWS Students are now registered for grade 9 at Lockview High and the elementary schools have completed their registration process with us for next year. All our elementary feeder schools will be visiting us on May 16th and May 17th for a tour and a nutritional snack. We will be having an Open House for parents / guardians in September.
