Word of the Month - Hope
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have made an excellent start to the term in their new classes. This week we had a Sheffield Local
Authority review commissioned by Learn Sheffield. (The School Improvement Consultancy that the Authority
and Head teachers have founded.)
The inspectors were impressed by the children’s friendliness, eagerness to learn and behaviour. The children
were involved in the inspection and they raved about the school and were a credit to us. They said that they felt
safe, enjoyed their trips, clubs and even assemblies! They also said that they would like maths to be more
difficult and they would like more homework! The school environment was also praised for the improvements
made over the summer. Thanks to Carfield Friends for your help with the playgrounds.
Our next steps are to improve the presentation of the children’s books and to give opportunities for
independent learning. Both of these areas are on our current school improvement plan and these
improvements are well underway.
Please support your children by reading with them 4 times a week. We read with children in school but children
thrive when they are read with and can have the opportunity to talk about their book regularly.
The new ipads are in constant use and we are saving to buy more next April.
Y3 Chocolate Trip:
As part of the topic on food called Scrummdiddliumptious, our Y3 children visited the Chocolate Factory in Chesterfield
this week, making and tasting chocolate models and molds. As you can see, it was a very happy day!
The Romans came saw and conquered our Y4s!

HALLOWEEN DISCO IS HERE!
Friday 14th October in the Lower Hall:
6 – 7pm for Y1, Y2 & Y3;
7.15 - 8.15pm for Y4, Y5 & Y6.

Please place your payment in an envelope, write your
child's name and class on it and put it in the box marked
DISCO at the School Reception Desk before Friday 7th
October.
Tickets will be given out at school. There will be a space
on the ticket for parents' contact numbers in case of
emergency and their consent signature, required if your
child would like to have their photo taken with their
friends (for children's use only). There will also be a
parents' room with refreshments and information.
At the disco we aim to enjoy music with the children and
help them experience a social setting. There are
interactive dances and children can buy food, drinks and
snacks, face painting and temporary tattoos. There is a
raffle at the 2nd disco.
Carfield Friends organise the disco and are always glad
of helping hands to ensure events are a success. Please
get in touch if you can offer any time/help prior, during
or with clearing up after the disco. Leave your details at
