KiNdErGaRtEn News Reading This week we focused on nouns and pronouns. On Thursday, we had to sort the pronouns from the common nouns. Students did very well with this. Students are taking charge of their own reading by finding “good fit” books and setting the timer and reading the whole time Religion This week we talked about the sacrament of Baptism. Thank you for sending back “Your Baptism”, it was great for the children to share the story of their special day. Science We are wrapping up on Seasons. I will be assessing students on our “Weather Unit” coming up this next week and then we will be working on our “Animal Unit”. This is a long unit that will take some time but students love researching and finding out different facts about different animals! Writing We are writing and creating our own sentences. Students wrote about their favorite season and why it is their favorite. I will be sending those home next week, they have been hanging on the “wonderful work” board because they did so well! They have also enjoyed using magnetic letters to make words on my filing cabinet! It’s very colorful Phonics We are wrapping up on beginning sounds and starting to work on ending sounds and the short “i” medial sounds. We are going above and beyond with our sight words- I believe we are almost to 30+ words! Social Studies We continue to discuss work and using money. We read the story “The Bernstein Bears Trouble with Money”. We discussed ways to earn money and what jobs we would enjoy when we are older. We will have Job Day on Friday! Math - Played a Jeopardy game to review Chapter 5 - Used cubes to solve ways to numbers - Subitizing with dice - Played a new 10 frame game called “Hot Soup” Notes Monday: Twin Day Tuesday: Mix-match clothes day Wednesday: no Mass, Game Day Thursday: Halloween Party 22:45 Friday: Mass (All Saints Day), Job Day Dress Up
