Reading
This week we focused on nouns and
pronouns. On Thursday, we had to
sort the pronouns from the common
nouns. Students did very well with
this. Students are taking charge of
their own reading by finding “good
fit” books and setting the timer and
reading the whole time 
Religion
This week we talked about the
sacrament of Baptism. Thank you for
sending back “Your Baptism”, it was
great for the children to share the
story of their special day.
Science
We are wrapping up on Seasons. I will
be assessing students on our
“Weather Unit” coming up this next
week and then we will be working on
our “Animal Unit”. This is a long unit
that will take some time but students
love researching and finding out
different facts about different
animals!
Writing
We are writing and creating our own
sentences. Students wrote about
their favorite season and why it is
their favorite. I will be sending those
home next week, they have been
hanging on the “wonderful work”
board because they did so well! They
have also enjoyed using magnetic
letters to make words on my filing
cabinet! It’s very colorful 
Phonics
We are wrapping up on beginning
sounds and starting to work on ending
sounds and the short “i” medial
sounds. We are going above and
beyond with our sight words- I
believe we are almost to 30+ words!
Social Studies
We continue to discuss work and
using money. We read the story “The
Bernstein Bears Trouble with Money”.
We discussed ways to earn money and
what jobs we would enjoy when we are
older. We will have Job Day on Friday!
Math
- Played a Jeopardy game to
review Chapter 5
- Used cubes to solve ways to
numbers
- Subitizing with dice
- Played a new 10 frame game
called “Hot Soup”
