Last week we had 22 parents attend our first Play is the Way Parent Night.
Lara, one of our mums, wrote the following:
Wilson McCaskill’s dynamic Play is the Way session last night was a real eye
opener. I was already aware of the posters and their messages through my kids (Yrs 1 & 2), but I
found it useful to view them in the broader context of changes happening in education theory and
curriculum development. My most valuable ‘takeaway’ point was that school is
not just about learning to make a living, it’s about learning to make a life. This

Dear Parents,
On Sunday we heard a beautiful Gospel from Matthew 22:34-40. The message is as clear for us
today as it was for the Pharisees at the time.
The Greatest Commandment
When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and
one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in
the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first
commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these
two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
This Friday is Bandanna Day we will have a whole school liturgy at 9am. Each year we remember
OLW student Dane Lewis a former student who had leukaemia, and who passed away in 2002 when
he was in Year 7. The Dane Lewis Memorial Award for Excellence in Communication is presented to
a student on Bandanna Day. Bandannas are for sale in the office for $4.00, all students are invited
to wear a bandanna on Friday.
October is Mission Month a time to focus on the work of Catholic Mission in our World. We are
running out of October days, so our Mission free dress day is this Friday 31st October. Please ensure
children come in sun safe clothing (including broad brimmed hat for playtime) and closed in
footwear for safety. A gold coin donation will go to Catholic Mission.
Enjoy the week ahead.
Kind Regards,
Jo
