1. Project Title: Simulating the effect of elevated CO2 and temperature on water productivity and nutrient use in soybean-wheat cropping system 2. Project Code: NASF/CA-5014/2015-16 3. Name of the Lead Institution: Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS), Bhopal 4. Names of the Partner Institutions: Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Bhopal India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi 5. Name & Designation of Principal Investigator: Dr. Narendra Kumar Lenka, Principal Scientist 6. Name & Designation of the CCPI: Dr Punit Chandra, Principal Scientist Dr K. K. Singh, Scientist – F and Head (Agrimet) 7. Duration of the project: July 2015 to June 2018 8. Objectives of the project: To determine the impact of nitrogen stress on water productivity, nutrient uptake and selected soil properties under elevated CO2 and temperature conditions To simulate and develop projections for crop growth, nutrient and water requirement for varied CO2 and temperature conditions using crop simulation models and weather generator To investigate the effect of elevated CO2 and temperature on biochemical attributes of grain and crop residues 9. Expected output: Information on crop water requirement, nitrogen response and nutrient uptake (N, P, K, S, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, and B) under elevated CO2 and temperature conditions Simulation products (projections) on crop water and nutrient requirement under varied CO2 and temperature conditions Information on crop and grain biochemical attributes and functional properties under elevated CO2 and temperature conditions
