1.
Age:
• All players must be under 10 years as at 31 December

Teams:
A team will consist of not more than 12 players.
A team must have 9 players to start a game.
Games of 1 hour duration.
Coaches umpire when your team is fielding.

Offence:
The ball is placed on the batting tee by the catcher at home plate.
The pitcher takes his position on the pitching mound.
Batter must remain within the batter’s box.
The ball is in play when the batter hits the ball beyond the 7.5m line into fair territory.
Grades under 7 years, there is no limit to the strikes allowed.
All other grades – should the batter miss the ball on the tee he is charged with a strike, if he hits
the tee he is charged with a strike.
• A ball which goes into foul territory or does not go beyond the 7.5m line is a foul. Three strikes
will constitute a strike out.
• The innings is completed after every player has been at bat and the ball becomes dead at the end
of play.
4.
Defence:
• A maximum of 9 players take the field – remainder are substitutes.
• All offensive (batting) players will remain outside the foul line except for the next batter who will
remain in the on deck circle.
• Remarks from the coach will be limited to directions to the base runners only and coaches must
remain in the coaches’ boxes adjacent to first and third base. Under 7s, an additional coach is
permitted on second base.
• Fielded fly balls – The runner must return to base until such time as the ball is caught. They may
then run at their own risk.
• Play is dead when the ball is thrown into the catcher who places a foot on home plate. Runners
over halfway down the running line must advance to the next base.
• Any player missed in the batting order will bat last.
• Players may not impede runners by blocking the running line.
• Only one base can be taken on an overthrow.
• N.B. An overthrow is a ball that has crossed the foul line marked from home plate to first base and
home plate to third base. Any ball inside the foul line is live.
• A batter who leaves the bat on home plate or throws the bat will be called out after one warning.
