Tournament Details
1. Date: October 3rd and 4th, 2014.
2. Place: Winston Churchill High School in Lethbridge (1605-15th, Ave. North)
3. Tournament Format and rules: The tournament will be a TEN-team, two pools of five
format with the top three teams in each pool advancing to a playoff round. All matches
for the round-robin will be two games to 25 (no cap) and playoffs will be best of three
with the third game to 15 (no cap). Following the above, all ASAA rules will apply (net,
tie breaking and substitution reminders) See below:

The following tie breaking procedures will be used if two or more teams are tied at
the end of the round robin:
a. The team having the best ratio of won/lost matches, considering matches
between the tied teams, will be ranked higher.
b. The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering matches played
between the tied teams, will be ranked higher.
c. The team having the best ratio of won/lost games, considering all matches of the
round robin, will be ranked higher.
d. The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering games played
between the tied teams, will be ranked higher.
e. The team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering all games
played during the round robin, will be ranked higher.
f. Coin toss
4. Officiating: A qualified First Referee will be provided for each match. WCHS will supply
the Second Referee and the WCHS Sr. Boys and Girls will provide line judges and score
keeping for ALL games. All your team does is PLAY and have fun!
5. Prizes and Gifts:
 Permanent team awards will be presented to the First and Second place teams:
Including the prestigious Churchill Cup!
 Medals will be awarded to the First place teams.
6. Entry Fee: $225.00 per team. Cheques to be made out to WCHS Athletics. Priority
will be given schools that send BOTH their Girls and Boys teams.
7. Concession: There will be NO concession this year.
8. Hospitality Room: There will a full hospitality room for coaches, team staff, officials
and tournament volunteers in the teacher lounge. Please take the time to relax and
mix/mingle between your games.
9. Tobacco Policy: Lethbridge School District #51 does not permit any form of tobacco
use on school district property. Please inform your parents as well.
10. Warm-up balls and warm-ups: Please supply your own warm-up volleyballs. Please
do not allow your players to warm-up with volleyballs outside of the gym. They are free
to warm-up – but please leave the volleyballs in the equipment bag until you enter the
gym.
11. Change locker rooms: Separate female and male locker rooms (with showers) are
available in the gym. WCHS or LSD #51 cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen
items. The locker rooms are not locked and are in the gym for easy access.
12. LSD #51 Code of Conduct and SAIAC Code of Conduct: Both of these codes of
conduct are clearly posted in our gym at all times. Please make your players, staff and
fans aware of these codes. If you have any concern about the behaviour of a player,
coach, official, volunteer or fan, please direct your concerns to the tournament
coordinators or administrator.
13. Accommodations: Winston Churchill High School has a preferred rate at the following
hotel in Lethbridge: The Lethbridge Lodge. Please book early and make reference to the
Winston Churchill High School Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament – Team Rate.

*Pools are not the same for both boys’ and girls’ draws. All matches have been
scheduled for 55minutes (approx) please have your players ready to play at the starting
time of your match as “on court” warm-up time may be limited.
