Year 5 Autumn Term

Homework
Music Lessons
The Tudors
The children will be given spelling
homework every week. We also expect Year
5 to read every night. Please make sure
your child brings their Reading Record in
every Friday and learns spellings for a test
on Friday also.
These will be taking place on Tuesdays.
Please ensure your child has their
instrument in school on this day and
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Year 5, we hope you all had a
wonderful summer break.
Swimming
Both Year 5 classes will be attending
swimming lessons this half term. We will
return back to school at 3:00pm and all
children will be ready to be picked up at
the normal time of 3:10pm.
Please ensure that your child brings along
appropriate swimming clothes, a towel
and a swimming cap and goggles if
required.
This term the children will be learning about
the Tudors. They will take part in a range of
activities during this topic. The children will get
the chance to find out more about the ways in
which people lived during Tudor times when
we visit Speke Hall on 4th October.

We have a new approach to Maths
homework this year; this will be explained
at the autumn term Parents’ Meeting. Until
then, please help your child in Maths by
ensuring they know their x2, x3, x4, x5, x6,
x7, x8, x9, x10, x11, x12 times tables.
Matheletics
Please take a look at our curriculum topic page
attached to this newsletter or on our class blogs
which will have regular updates regarding out
topic work and activities.
In the next few weeks all children
will be issued with a login and
password for Mathletics. This can
be used at home as an extra
homework activity and will help to
develop your child’s Maths skills.
Remember, your teacher can see
how many times you have been on
Mathletics at home! Can you be the
best in the class?!
‘Bikeability’ training starts this term! A letter
will be sent home with details soon.
