Aim:
Leading children's digital agency, Complete Control have an exciting position for an
ambitious graduate games developer with the creativity and drive to take an exciting new
concept to the next level.
The Company:
Based in a fantastic studio in the beautiful surroundings of Corston, just outside of Bath,
Complete Control are a double BAFTA winning children’s interactive production company
creating entertaining and engaging content for the best in children’s media. Their client list
includes Disney, Nickelodeon, Penguin Books and Cartoon Network. In addition, following a
long-standing relationship with the BBC, Complete Control has just been awarded a coveted
place on the short list of digital providers for future Children, Knowledge and Learning
projects.
They are a thriving and creative development studio, consisting of 16 developers,
illustrators, designers and project managers, producing interactive websites, animations,
HTML5 and native gaming apps for the most loveable children's brands in addition to
developing their own original characters and games. Complete Control are now looking for
a new member to join the team to assist in developing and launching their own new ideas
and IP and need an individual who can demonstrate both creative and technical excellence,
particularly in mobile gaming development. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an award

Objectives:
•
Bring your creative programming skills to develop a suite of browser based (HTML5)
mobile games, using a previously saved personal avatar, which is currently being
developed by the studio.
•
Creating rapid game prototypes for proof of concept.
•
Development of online scoreboards and reward/achievement systems.
•
Incorporating a log-in and saving system within the games.
•
Investigate the feasibility of casual multiplayer games in HTML5.
•
Bring your own ideas / technical problem solving to game development.
Nature of work undertaken:
Reporting to the Creative Director and the Lead Games Developer, you will be
demonstrating your flair and creativity for innovation and technology to create amazing
games and applications for Complete Control. The role will be supported by a generous
mentoring package to support the chosen candidate to develop the skills necessary to be
successful in the role. Candidates will be expected to work from the company’s Corston
studio; working hours are usually 37 per week, 9.00am to 5.30pm (5.00pm on Fridays)
although some flexibility may be required.
Required Personal skills and qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
•
Relevant degree level qualification
•
Must be ideas driven, have a flair for
creative development and a love of
games
•
Knowledge and experience of working in
Javascript, XML, JSON and HTML
•
Proficiency in object orientated
programming (OOP) and associated
practices
•
Experience in Games Programming
practices- including games loops, display
trees, finite state machines
•
Skilled in applied mathematics in
programming, with emphasis on
trigonometry and geometry
•
Passion for developing and the
enthusiasm and desire to push
boundaries
•
Excellent communication skills
•
Self-starter with the initiative to selfmanage

prove) that they have the right to work in
the UK

Desirable Requirements:
• Experience of App development
• Proficiency in developing in HTML5
Contract details:
This is a permanent position for the right candidate. The first 9 months will be supported by
the Grads for Growth programme.
