INTRODUCTION
Introduction – the ANCLP
• The Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection
of the Czech Republic (ANCLP) is a governmental body
established by the Ministry of the Environment
• The main aim of the ANCLP is to protect and conserve nature
and landscape on the whole territory of the Czech Republic
• 37 regional branches,
• 600 employees

• monitoring the status, changes and trends in habitats and
species
• performance of the State Administration in nature
conservation and landscape protection within the Protected
Landscape Areas under the Act on the Protection of Nature
and the Landscape
• administration of national subsidy programmes as well as
some European Community funds serving to conserve nature
and to protect landscape
• state property management in the Czech Republic (not only
in protected areas)

• administration of Central Governmental Documentation on
Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection (including
operation of a scientific library and administrative archives)

performance including methodological and expert activities

• international cooperation in nature conservation and landscape

of the CZ)

(administration of the Standard Data Form – common
database)
• monitoring the phenomena of Community interest in entire
country – Art. 11 Habitats Directive
• reporting of conservation status of the habitat types and
species of Community interest – Art. 17 Habitats Directive

• project started 2005 (relation to the accession of the EU)
• financed from our own budget
• there was a full confidence within the institution

Development of NCIS - PROBLEMS
• low awareness about using advanced IT technologies
• unclear assignments
• many changes during the implementation
• low quality of external contractors
• high number of project participants
• internal staff capacity
