Chaque geste compte – every action counts! Litterless lunch

Chaque geste compte – every action counts!
Litterless lunch
It has been estimated that on average a school-age child packing a disposable lunch generates 30 kgs of
waste per school year.
Remember your old lunch box? It’s time to dust it off and pass it on to your children.
As a part of our earth week celebrations, École Cedardale is implementing a littlerless lunch (and recess)
program. To those of you who are already sending food and drink in reusable containers we applaud
you and thank you. It is now time to work together and reduce our entire school’s footprint on the
environment, as many other schools are doing.
To achieve our goal of trash reduction, we ask that you send all food and drink in reusable containers –
no juice boxes, granola wrappers, plastic, yogurt containers, etc. Any trash, including wrappers and food
scraps will be returned home. The aim of this project is to raise the awareness of staff, parents and
students, to reduce the trash going to the landfill and to progress from our very successful recycling
programme to the other two Rs- reduce and reuse.
