Installing HSCIC Identity Agent v2.
This process will install the “new” HSCIC Identity Agent v2 and all the required components. This process is the same for 32 and
64bit operating systems just choose the appropriate files.
Firstly you need to download the required software (220Mb) onto a USB stick which can be located here:
(missing for security reason)
Once this is done log onto the machine as local administrator.
Step 1. Uninstall current Identity agent and components.

Go to control panel > programs > Uninstall a program
Locate the version of java and Uninstall ALL current versions ( 32 & 64 bit)
Next Uninstall the NHS CRS Identity Agent 13.01.10, this should also uninstall Gemalto.
Next go to the local C drive > Program Files.
Locate the “Java” folder and delete it.
Reboot the laptop
Again logon as local Admin
Before you move on to step 2, unsure you have completed the above steps.
Step 2. Installation of New HSCIC Identity Agent v2 and Components.
1) Firstly install Java Jre-8u65- windows-i586 (64bit version will need to be download.) when asked about Java security
prompts Untick the box and continue.

Next install the “AWP 5.2.0 SR1 NHS user” software
Now install the “Gemalto Classic Client 6.1 Patch” software
Next install the OT-32 registry file.
Next install the new Identity Agent (HSCICIAv2)
Once installation is complete reboot
Logon as local admin

Step 3. Java configuration.

Next go to Control Panel > Java > go to the Security Tab

Click on “Edit Site List” a window will appear > click Add
Click in the box next to the exclamation mark.

Enter the following https://portal.national.ncrs.nhs.uk
Click Add and then Add.

Now insert the following https://uim.national.ncrs.nhs.uk
Click Add then Click ok.

You should now see the following
Click Ok to close.
Step 4. Test the smart, Portal and UIM work.

Insert your smart card, and the following should appear.

Insert your Passcode and click OK
The Identity Agent will now start a Authentication Process
Select your Role, Click Ok
Now open you shortcut to the Spine (Portal page) https://portal.national.ncrs.nhs.uk
You will be advised that the website is untrusted, do you wish to continue, Click Continue.

You should now see the “National Health Service Spine Portal” Page appear.
Now click on “Launch Care Identity Service”
A new Tab will open, again you will be advised that the website is untrusted, do you wish to continue, Click Continue.
10) The Care Identity Service (Dashboard) should now appear. Continue as you did with the previous IA.
NB. Once you have rebooted after initial login of the portal, you should not see Steps 4 item 6-9
