Enzymatic dechlorination post treatment is evidenced by measureable liberation of chloride ions
followed by mineralization of the residual constituent organic components. Chloride ions may be off
gassed to atmosphere but more typically partition to the organic material in soil/sediment as a salt. The
characteristic sloping degradation rates are found in both aerobic and anaerobic treatments.
