1. Executive summary
The executive summary provides a brief overview of the Network Self Evaluation, including the
methodology, network context, and evaluation of performance in relation to the three student outcome
areas of Student Learning, Student Engagement and Wellbeing, and Student Pathways and Transitions.
It clearly and succinctly outlines the network’s strengths and areas for further improvement. It also
highlights recommendations for the future.
2. Methodology
This section briefly outlines the process that was used to prepare the Network Self Evaluation.
If a working party was set up to prepare the Self Evaluation, its membership and operations could be
described in this section, together with a summary of the consultations and input to the self-evaluation
from across the network.
3. Network context
This section identifies the schools in the network and their interrelationships. It describes the
geographical and environmental context of the network and the demographic and social characteristics
that help define the network. These include long-term population, enrolment and workforce trends, and
early childhood, further education and employment opportunities. It also includes information about the
available resources and partnerships established within and beyond the network to enhance student
outcomes. It may draw on the profiles contained in network schools’ strategic plans and will have
important implications for the development of the Network Strategic Plan. The information in this section
will be incorporated in the ‘environmental context’ of the Network Strategic Plan. The network context
may be referred to when explaining the outcomes that have been achieved within the network.

4. Evaluation of performance
Networks evaluate their performance in the following student outcome areas:

student learning

student pathways and transitions

student engagement and wellbeing.
4.1
Student learning
How has the network performed in relation to student learning outcomes?
The network can use data from the network data reports and any additional data, to reflect on what the
network has achieved.
3
Network Self-Evaluation
What are the trends, achievements and key issues in student learning outcomes within the network?
The network can use data from the network report to reflect on what they have achieved, as well as utilising any additional data or reports that may be relevant.
Note: it may be useful to incorporate local contextual knowledge from the region, network or schools into this table.

Numeracy
VELS / NAPLAN
VCE, VET, VCAL
What are some of the common issues / barriers impacting on the achievement of student outcomes within the network and how can they be resolved?

Resource implications
Insert Name of Network
How effectively did we manage resources to support the achievement of improved student
outcomes?
The network reflects upon the way it allocated its resources to improve student learning outcomes.
Note: This section may not be applicable to all networks for this first cycle. However, if resources have
been allocated at the network level, it should be discussed in this section.
What can we do in the future to continue to improve?
Networks can include recommendations relating to goals and key improvement strategies. However,
they are not required at this stage to specify targets or to indicate achievement milestones for any
strategies proposed. This will form part of the Network Strategic Plan.
