Fifth Grade Fifth grade has started an exciting new coding project that uses real Python language. The program is called Codesters. They learn the basics of programming in Python and create programs at the end of each lesson. Students are understanding more about syntax and the importance of language in computer science. Third - Fourth Grade These students have started a new coding program called Code Monkey. The objective is to get the monkey to the banana while encountering numerous obstacles. Students are learning CoffeeScript coding language found in Code Monkey. It teachers them principals of coding language and syntax. They also learn all the other things such as functions, loops and more! Kindergarten – Second Grade Student will be learning principals of coding through a fun website called Code.Org All students have user accounts that they can log on to from anywhere. Students will be learning about sequence, code, algorithms, loops and more. Coding is a great way for students to learn how to not only sequence, but also to plan ahead, think critically, and work collaboratively. The students will be faced with challenging problems. It is important that they learn it’s not “impossible,” and that everything has solutions. The challenge is finding that solution! Typing Challenge We might not do as much typing in the lab anymore, BUT the expectation is that you are using the typing programs outside! Third-Fifth gradePlease make sure you are signing into typingweb.com and progressing through the levels! When you complete the intermediate level, let Ms. Sora know! Prizes are given Upcoming Topics K-1: Pixie4- Creating story books and more… 2nd Grade: Students will create their own coding program similar to those played in Code.org 3-4th Grade: Creating final projects in Code Monkey 5th Grade: Creating Final Projects using Python
