Follower

“Follower” is a drugs fuelled thrill ride which follows the
disintegration of a young man, who believes he’s doing the
right thing but his actions may be questionable.
Follower, is a film about a 23 year old named Sam Addison
who fell into a disaster. He had an addiction to drugs and
alcohol which destroyed everything in his life that was worth
living for, in particular his girlfriend, Laurie Young.
She despised him for what he had become; with police
knocking constantly accusing the family of drug dealing, him
being in and out of prison, it’s something Laurie wanted no
longer.
He become worse and worse, leading into mental illnesses
such as depression and schizophrenia – followed by him
stalking Laurie, him thinking someone else was, shows his
obsession with her.
Stealing her possessions and tracking her every move by
social networks and apps, this modern day mystery thriller
will keep you all at the edge of your seats from the intro
throughout.
• Our opening title sequence is going to be mostly
conceptual with some characterization of the films
antagonist, as inspired by ‘se7en’.
• There will be lots of close ups for the conceptual
theme. The close ups will show his obsession with
his Ex-girlfriend, Laurie. It will be made clear that he
is stalking her by using these shots. The shots will be
of scratched out photos, a map with previous
locations, social network pages.
• We will be using flashbacks to show his relationship
in the past but faces will be kept hidden to heighten
the mystery aspect.
• We’ve decided on the name of “Follower”. This gives us
an idea of what the film is about which is a man who
starts stalking his ex-girlfriend.
• Act 1 - Sam and Laurie are in a good relationship, but
Sam’s decent into drug use and dealing becomes too
much for Laurie to handle.
• Act 2 – Sam becomes obsessed with Laurie and starts
constantly looking through her
Facebook/Instagram/twitter and discovers that she’s
being stalked. In order to save her he starts following her
and becomes infatuated with her every move.
• Act 3 – Because of Sam’s constant drug use we find out
that Laurie’s stalker was Sam. When he’s following her
home one night she finally turns around and screams at
him to stop. He then goes home and starts thinking about
the fact that it’s been him causing her so much upset and
kills himself.
• For the beginning of the opening title sequence, Sam, will
be wearing a black tracksuit with a black hoodie.
• As we have set our idea on not showing the waist up part of
the characters, we can only see that his hands are very
unclean (to do this, get some wet mud or something along
the same lines).
• When he is having flash backs of his past, he will be wearing
colourful clothing.
• His clothes will also identify his age, therefore, because he is
in his late teens, early 20s, his clothing will be up to date in
modern day. The same for the throwback of the ex – girl
friend partner, she is of a similar age, so trendiness,
however very individual as she quirks it up in style of
herself.
• Sam Addison
• Our main character is a young boy in his late teens,
early twenties named Sam Addison which will be
hard for the viewer to identify other than the
suggestion of the clothes.
• Laurie Young
• Her personality through the opening title sequence
suggests her dominance over Sam. She doesn’t back
down to what she believes in, and does what is
right for her, instead of worrying about the mess he
could turn into eventually if she leaves him.
