12th May - Parklands Primary School

Friday May 12th 2017
Issue 27
Well Done Y6 (and keep going Y2).
Hurray the Y6 SAT’s have finished ….
Meaning we can now return to our normal
love of lessons as opposed to National
testing.
What we always need to remember is that
our children are remarkable. I often sit in
awe, watching our children recite their
times tables quicker than many can read
the question. Their rapid recall of such
facts is a joy to behold. I am sure you will
agree, if you have witnessed our recent
'Celebration' assemblies. Similarly, their
writing, wow, their writing! They aspire to
be authors and they write like authors!
Every Monday – I sit in awe reading what
the children have produced during
‘Writers of the Week.’
They ask insightful questions in Science. I
watch with delight as their imagination
runs wild and their confidence soar during
drama and role play activities.
Celebrate all and not just the few. They
build dens, they make hammocks, they
are closer to nature and they understand
the importance of being part of a team.
Above all of this, the kindness they show
each other, staff and parents is a delight

Business in The
Community – The Fence
Off 2017.
As you read this today, we will have
just finished our 2nd Give and Gain
Day. Today we hosted 150
volunteers from several brilliant
businesses as they undertook a
Fence Painting Challenge with our
Y6 children. The task was to paint all
the fences around our school
making it more appealing to the
eye. We are so proud of our
business links – no wonder that
Parklands has been shortlisted for
the National TES Award for Business
Collaboration 2017. Thanks to
Business in the Community and Mr
Wilkinson for your efforts today.
X Tables .
I am so proud of ALL the children this half term who have practiced and practiced
their X Tables. Each class is providing a new, different Champion each week. It’s
the class certificate that matters… well done ALL.

I am truly proud of all our pupils and

We celebrate all and not just the
