2015 STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
INFORMATION SHEET
Student Scholarships are available to provide financial support to assist eligible fulltime student members of GAS in attending the 44th Glass Art Society Conference in San
Jose, CA June 5-7, 2015. All amounts are in USdollars. Jurors for 2015 are to be determined.
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS - $5,000 awarded as five awards of $1,000 each. All eligible
full-time student members of GAS will be considered for this scholarship.
BECKY WINSHIP FLAMEWORKING SCHOLARSHIP - One award of $1,000 will be given.
Eligible students whose work uses flameworking techniques will be considered for this.

ELIGIBLITY - Applicants and Award Winners must meet all eligibility requirements.
1) Current full-time student in an accredited program.
2) Current Glass Art Society full-time student member. Join/Renew at www.glassart.org. Proof of
student status required.
3) Did not receive a Glass Art Society Student Scholarship in the last 3 years offered.

By submitting, applicants agree to the following: To allow GAS to use the submitted images and info in online and printed GAS
publications/media. If awarded a scholarship, to provide a short, detailed description about your conference experience and to allow GAS to also
use this in online and print GAS media.

Download submission forms at glassart.org. One application allows consideration for all scholarships, if eligible.
Email the following 6 files to [email protected].
***For files 2-6 do NOT add your full name, gender or country to any file names or on the images or
application form. This is a BLIND JURY. Add only your initials unless otherwise specified.
1. STUDENT VERIFICATION FORM: Add your current information, get your teacher’s signature and scan
the document or take a jpg photo. Title the file “SchoolName-YourLastName-2015StudentVerification”
2-5. ***FOUR ARTWORK IMAGES / VIDEOS: RGB jpg, no larger than 7 inches high or wide at 200 dpi.
Title the files “YourInitials-01-Title of Artwork.jpg” and so on.
Video submissions must be no longer than 5 minutes in length and uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. ***Due
to the blind jury please create a separate temporary account using only your initials and not your full name.
Email a still image from the video (as one of your four submitted images) & provide the video view link on
your application form.
6. ***APPLICATION FORM: One .doc or .pdf file titled “YourInitials-2015StuScholApp.doc”
- Thumbnails of four submitted images. Before inserting, re-size each image to about 1.5 inches @100 dpi,
then copy and paste it into the Word document. This keeps the file size small.
- Image Captions: Title, Year, Dimensions (HxWxD & unit of measurement), Materials/Techniques, Photo
credit (other than self), Video View Link (if applicable)
- Artist Statement: maximum 600 words about your artwork and concepts.
- Describe why you want to attend the 2015 San Jose GAS Conference with a maximum of 600 words.
