Q: Does my team get to view our training venues or the playing venue at Good Hope Centre
before our allocated training sessions begin?
A: No team will be given access to the training venues or the Good Hope Centre outside of their
allocated time. We will provide each team with training venue layout information in regards to space,
run-off, changing rooms etc. All team managers will be given a thorough tour of the centre and your
Team Liaison Assistant will be able to help you with any queries once you are on-site.
Q: What are the recovery facilities available after training?
A: Ample ice will be available for rub- downs. You can book the sauna and swimming pool at the hotel.
The gym at the hotel is also available.
Q: Do teams have access to a gym or pool at training venues?
A: University of Cape Town as well as CPUT Bellville as training venues has gym facilities. Swimming
pools are all outdoors.
Q: What is the method of transport to trainings and games?
A: Teams will travel by bus. This will be on a shuttle system for trainings and for games. Note that buses
will be strictly adhering to the shuttle schedules for all trainings so teams MUST be ready for their
allocated pick-up and drop off times. Managers and team liaisons will have to book shuttle times for
every day.
Q: Where do I go for last minute accreditation?
A: All accreditation will be done at the Good Hope Centre as teams arrive. When teams arrive at the
GHC the manager and team leader will do the accreditation for their team on the FISU tournament
forms send in June. If there are last minute additions and/or changes to your team and auxiliary list or
the details on your accreditation are incorrect, your team manager/leader will need to do changes
immediately with the main accreditation officer. The team manager will be given all accreditation after
all payments are done and all forms received
Q: If athletes are drug tested, what are the arrangements for their return to the hotel?
A: It is up to the Team Liaison with team manager/leader to notify transport section that this will be
required so that transport can be provided to the team.
Q: Will we have chance for a familiarization of the facility while we are there for training or will
this happen on another occasion?
A: Yes, the team manager will be given a more detailed guided tour during the team’s training session.
The team will also be given a shorter tour after their training session. The tour will be conducted by a
Technical Official with the assistance of your Team Liaison.
Q: Are ice baths available after matches at the match venue?
A: No
Q: Competition rules specify team sheets being handed in 90mins before match. What is the
required time for arrival at the venue? If it is 90 minutes, what facilities are available and from
when? Can we access changing rooms? Is there an athlete’s lounge?
A: Teams will have a 45 min after a game before they need to vacate a changing room. 4 changing
rooms will be in use. There will be an athlete’s lounge. As soon as the Draw has being made we will give
more accurate times.
Q: Is there a specific warm up court or do we warm up on the match court?
A: There will be a specific warm-up court. Teams will, wherever possible, have no less than 20 min on a
Half court to warm up (depending on the timing of the games prior). Teams will be provided with a
master overview of game run times and also given daily game run sheet, based on the times/courts etc
that they play on.
Q: Are there showering facilities at the training venues?
A: Yes, there will be showers inside the changing rooms.
Q: Can teams request for special arrangements for transportation?
A: This will depend on the request and reason. This will be entertained on an ad hoc basis by the
transport division.
Q: Will recovery drinks and food be provided?
A: Recovery food and drinks will not be provided. Teams will receive a snack pack per day. If more is
needed it is for their own arrangement. Bottled water will be available.
Q: Will each of the rooms at the hotel have DVD players available?
A: no, only on request in the team room
Q: Will there be meeting rooms provided in the gym and pool facilities at the hotel?
A: Meeting rooms will be on the floor where the team is accommodated, No rooms will be available at
the gym or pool area.
Q: What equipment is provided in the gym and pool facilities?
A: standard
Q: Can we book exclusive use of the gym and/or pool?
A: All bookings for the use of pools or gyms must be done through the manager of the team or team
leader and the team liaison person. This can be done at the hotel liaison.
Q: Are we being provided with team training balls?
A: The official tournament ball is MITRE. Each team will on arrival receive a bag of ball for their use
during the championships. This will include the tournament ball.
Q: What do the coach and captain have to wear for the interview?
A: The interview will not require formal attire. Coach and captain can wear their official training uniform,
i.e. training t-shirt or team tracksuit.
