Safety Dog Bus Tour Makes First Stop in Canada October 12 North American Tour Promotes Safe Bus Behavior for Students GEORGETOWN (October 4, 2016) — School transportation leader First Student shines a spotlight on safe school bus behaviour this season with its second-annual Safety Dog Bus Tour. This year, the Tour expands to partner with eight school districts, including the first stop in Canada. The Safety Dog Bus Tour will be at St. Brigid Catholic Elementary School, 73 Miller Drive in Georgetown, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on October 12. First Student is the bus transportation provider of Halton Student Transportation Services. “Student safety is at the heart of everything we do,” said First Student Area General Manager Peter McGlynn. “The Safety Dog Bus Tour encourages the best possible start to the school year by engaging thousands of students and parents within the communities we serve and reinforcing valuable safety messages in a fun and memorable way.” Throughout North America, the Safety Dog Bus Tour uses fun, interactive activities to teach safe bus riding basics to elementary school students and their parents. Students can explore a First Student bus; “Walk the Yellow Carpet” and pose for a photo with Safety Dog, the safety mascot for First Student; sign a safety pledge and leave with a bag full of goodies.
