Message from
THE CHAIRMAN
You don’t just see the world with Nuffield, you
meet the world. A scholarship isn’t just a professional
development experience, but one of the most impactful
personal development experiences money can’t buy. Time
away from farm and family isn’t easy, but with the global
Nuffield alumni support, followed by the knowledge you
bring back, I guarantee it’s worth it.

CHAIRMAN, NUFFIELD AUSTRALIA
ABBY MCKIBBEN 2015 SCHOLAR ROARING BEACH, TASMANIA
Welcome to Nuffield Australia Farming Scholarships. I am proud to introduce
myself as the Chairman of Nuffield Australia, a position I have held since
September 2016.
Nuffield Australia has been selecting scholars for over 60 years. It is the leading
program for primary producers in Australia which identifies new leaders in
industry and the community. It is also part of a global network of over 1,600
scholars from many other countries.
Scholars represent many rural industries and are selected on merit as people
committed to their industry sector and are typically engaged with their regions and
communities.
We are proud to announce the opening of the 2018 round of farming
scholarships. We are offering approximately 28 scholarships to practicing primary
producers and farm managers and I encourage you to apply to become a part of
our worldwide agricultural network.

“
The experience of travel, both together on the Global
Focus Program and alone on individual study, gives
confidence to tackle new challenges in your stride. You
will learn things about yourself and others that will stay
with you for a lifetime. A Nuffield Scholarship is designed
to challenge, stretch and grow you as an individual and
as a key contributor to your industry. Personally, I can
say that it has done all this and more.

2017 Nuffield Australia National Conference is a chance to
meet the Nuffield network and agri-business leaders, receive a
briefing about the program and formally be awarded the scholarship
2018 Contemporary Scholars Conference (CSC) is a week-long program
for all newly-selected scholars from around the world. Scholars build networks
and consider international trade and policy issues affecting agriculture. It
is a truly cultural and ambassadorial experience where leadership skills are
enhanced
2018 Global Focus Programs (GFP) offer a six-week, group travel
experience spent in various countries across three continents. Scholars select
one of six programs to investigate agricultural production, marketing, trade and
environmental issues and experience social and cultural aspects of each region
2018–19 Individual Study Program enables scholars to travel to countries
of choice to study their chosen individual research topic
Both written and verbal reporting is a requirement of the scholarship and
these are completed following the 16-weeks of research, as specified
by Nuffield Australia
Note: Financial assistance to the value of $30,000 (subject to conditions) is
provided to cover costs associated with the study period. Costs exceeding this
value must be met by the scholar

A Nuffield farming Scholarship is by the far the best
thing I have ever undertaken in relationship to farming,
business and personal development. You become part of
a global network of great farmers wanting to improve and
advance agriculture. You soon realise that all farmers
face similar challenges, and we can learn from each
other to succeed.
