Seattle Women’s Hockey Club Hosts its 8th Annual “Give Hockey a Try” Event
Free seminar gives women a chance to try the sport of ice hockey in a friendly environment
KIRKLAND, WA, August, 2011 – Were you intrigued by ice hockey during the last Olympics?
Do you wonder what it’s like to skate in all that crazy gear? Or slap a puck into the net? Here’s
your chance to find out! The Seattle Women’s Hockey Club’s (SWHC) is sponsoring a free
hands-on seminar for women, ages 18+ to experience the growing sport of ice hockey. The 8th
annual "Give Hockey a Try" event will be held Saturday, August 13 at Kingsgate Ice Arena
in Kirkland from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. (Check-in is at 2:45 for gear distribution and dress time).
The Club will provide all the safety gear, skates, sticks, and pucks for the session. In addition, a
seasoned coach will lead the practice and cover hockey basics with the support of current Club
members. SWHC members will help you put on your gear and answer questions you may have.
No previous skating or hockey experience required. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to
come! All of this provided at no charge, nor obligation to join the club.
This is a unique opportunity to be introduced to or reacquainted with ice hockey in a friendly,
fun and supportive environment. The Seattle Women’s Hockey Club is a non-profit, recreational,
