REVIEW OF PROGRAM OF STUDIES & DIPLOMAS COURSE SELECTIONS & TEACHER REC SHEET SCHEDULING PROCESS INTRODUCTION OF FAMILY CONNECTIONS The Program of Studies is found online at the CHS website. http://www1.ccs.k12.in.us/chs/home -Course descriptions -Diploma information CORE 40 DIPLOMA English 4 years 8 credits Math 3 years 6 credits Science 3 years 6 credits Social Studies 3 years 6 credits PE 1 and PE 2 2 credits Health or IPR 1 semester 1 credit Electives 11 credits = 40 CREDITS Academic Honors Diploma 1 more year of math Core 40 Diploma 2 credits 3 years of 1 world language or English 4 years 8 credits Math 3 years 6 credits Science 3 years 6 credits Social Studies 3 years 6 credits PE 1 and PE 2 2 credits Health or IPR 1 semester 1 credit Directed Electives 5 credits Electives 6 credits 2 years each of 2 different world languages 2 semesters of fine arts 2 credits Grades of C- or higher in courses that count toward diploma GPA of 3.0 or higher 40 credits One of the following: • 4 semesters of either Dual Credit/ AP courses • Score 1750 on SAT • Score 26 on ACT • IB diploma TECHNICAL HONORS DIPLOMA Core 40 Diploma + * 8 or more credits in a Career/Technical Program (Business, F &CS, Engineering) * Must have a 3.0 gpa or higher and grade C – or above in courses that will count toward the diploma. * Other additional requirements on page 3 of your Program of Studies. SPECIAL PROGRAMS INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) • 2 year program (junior and senior years) that consists of a comprehensive and rigorous internationally focused liberal arts curriculum. • Students must be enrolling in Spanish III, German III, French III, or Latin II for their sophomore year. SPECIAL PROGRAMS AP Capstone • 2 year program (junior and senior years) that fulfills the English requirements while having them participate in a seminar class during their junior year and a research class during their senior year, scoring a 3 or higher on both AP exams. • Prerequisites: Must take 4 additional AP courses over 4 years, scoring a 3 or higher on the AP exams. Honors English 10 or AP Lit is highly recommended during sophomore year to prepare for AP Capstone. COURSE SELECTIONS Your Academic Teachers have recommended courses for next year’s schedule. BRING WORKSHEET FILLED OUT!! (1) (2) (3) The counselors will present scheduling information to the students during their English classes. Students will select their courses online with their parents. Counselors will meet individually with their students to review their course selections. Total hours requested should equal 14 unless you are in a holding class. The window to work on the schedule will be through Sunday, November 8th at midnight. Parents and students can view their online course requests at anytime; however, beginning November 9th only counselors can make changes. You will receive a copy of your transcript showing credits earned. If the student is retaking the course, the middle school credits should not be listed on the transcript. A letter will be given to those students with credits explaining whether to accept the credit. A decision doesn’t have to be made right now. Select the pencil icon to edit/add your personal email address. Review the class selections with your child. Complete the online course requests by this Sunday, November 8th.
