® HIGH PERFORMANCE How the VAULT HP System Works ® VAULT® HP contains a patented rhizobiastimulating technology, growthpromoting nutrients and extender components. Nod Genes Nod genes are stimulated in rhizobia bacteria by the VAULT® HP patented technology. Special nutrients and stabilizers keep more rhizobia healthy and vigorous on the seed and in the root zone. Nod genes in the rhizobia respond by producing more nod factor compounds. Nod Factor Nod factors signal plant root hairs to form more potential nodule sites. ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Soybean Extremely high numbers of rhizobia bacteria in VAULT® HP Any existing soil rhizobia Root VAULT® HP rhizobia More soybean root hairs develop into nodules where high numbers of rhizobia quickly form highly active, nitrogenfixing nodules. ® HIGH PERFORMANCE How the VAULT HP System Works ® Rapid root and nitrogen-producing nodule development The “good” bacteria also quickly colonize root surfaces to block pathogens. Soybean The Integral® biofungicide bacteria produce a compound which inhibits growth of disease-causing pathogens such as Fusarium and Rhizoctonia. Root Integral® biofungicide component in VAULT® HP Nitrogenfixing nodules Fusarium Rhizoctonia The biofungicide activity complements any systemic chemical fungicides by providing a longer protection time. ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Disease pathogens are unable to find root areas to infect. ® HIGH PERFORMANCE See the Difference VAULT HP Can Make in Your Fields ... and in Your Yields! New bio-based, multi-component growth— enhancing system for: • Faster emergence and plant growth • More vigorous root structure • More nitrogen-fixing root nodules • Greener, healthier plants and faster canopy closure • Integral biofungicide for added protection ® • More pods per plant for higher yield potential! ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Soybeans need nitrogen — and lots of it •75 bushel soybeans require 300 lbs. of N •Most N is fixed by rhizobia in the nodules •Native rhizobia can become lazy and less productive over time •Inoculate with fresh, soybeanspecific rhizobia •Use VAULT HP system to help maximize yield potential ® –Growth-enhancing technology –High rhizobia counts –Integral biological fungicide ® ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Things To Know About Successful Inoculation 1. Don’t assume native rhizobia will do the job. 2. Use a fresh, vigorous soybean-specific inoculant 3. Make sure inoculant is compatible with fungicide/insecticide treatment 4. Have product professionally applied •Ensures proper handling and application •Care in managing live organisms •Easy and convenient 5. Properly handle inoculated seed 6. Make in-field nodulation checks ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Evaluating Nodulation •Tools – spade, bucket of water, sharp box cutter or blade •Start checking 40 days after emergence through pod fill •Dig plant’s tap root and lateral roots – at least 10” deep •Do not pull plants •Carefully handle plants and soak in bucket to remove soil •Examine area around the tap root •Look at size and health of nodules in addition to number •Slice open several nodules and check for color ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. Evaluating Nodulation Pink to bright red — Actively fixing nitrogen White — Indicates colonization by rhizobia, but they are not yet mature or actively fixing nitrogen. Check again in a few weeks. Green, brown, tan, black or mushy — Not active, ineffective or may be parasitic ® VAULT® is a registered trademark of Becker Underwood Inc. ® HIGH PERFORMANCE Yield Trial Results — 2009 Yield Advantage Avg.
