efficiency and reduced environment impacts from the transporting of goods. Additionally, through our
Green Standards partnership, clients can positively impact the environment and help those in need

capture opportunities.
COMMUNITY
Armstrong associates are taught to succeed greatly go we can give generously. Each agency participates in
activities in its local community, supporting a variety of charities and ministries.
For example, after severe tornado damage in Oklahoma during May of 2013, Armstrong approached its
client Furniture Brands International with a challenge. “We asked if they might be interested in donating
a couple truckloads,” said Tom Connell, Vice President of Armstrong – Oklahoma City. “When they came
back and told me they were going to provide more than 20 loads, I was amazed. Furniture Brands has
stepped-up and we are proud to partner with them.” According to Erin Engelke, Vice President for Feed
The Children, “We are delighted to be able to provide these items that will genuinely help families.”
Trucks were loaded with Thomasville furniture, driven to Oklahoma City, warehoused, matched with and
ultimately delivered to nearly 4,000 families.

ARMSTRONG MOVING PROCEDURES
WEEKEND/EVENING MOVES
Armstrong has developed a dedicated commercial moving services division, which understands the
unique nature of commercial moves, particularly the need to minimize business interruption while
completing a move. In order to achieve this, a majority of commercial moves are completed after regular
business hours or on weekends. Armstrong’s commercial move services team anticipates most of its work
to be completed either in the evenings or on weekends at the client’s convenience.
A. NIGHT TIME LIGHTING PROVISION
Armstrong provides large, portable, commercial lights as needed to ensure safe movement of goods in
poor lighting conditions. These lights include stand-mounted, multi-direction halogen lights, handing
lights, which can be used along walkways or in trucks, and clip-on halogen lights to provide lighting in
confined areas. Armstrong also provides necessary extension cords to power to the needed lighting
areas.
B. INCLEMENT WEATHER PROTECTION
Inclement weather is avoided whenever possible; however, tight schedules often require moving
during rain or snow storms. Armstrong takes great care to ensure all items moved during inclement
weather are protected against damage. This may include the following: wrapping additional shrink
wrap on the tops and all sides of electronic and library carts; wrapping furniture susceptible to rain or
snow damage in clean pads and shrink wrap; setting up portable, instant canopies over walkways and
truck access points to minimize any potential water damage; or covering items with tarps while they
are moved from indoors to the trucks, and back again. Additionally, all Armstrong trucks and trailers
are weather tight. Once items are loaded onto the truck, they are well protected during the
transportation process.
C. SECURITY PROCEDURES
Armstrong conducts background checks, which are governed by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act,
on all independently contracted individuals and full-time personnel. Armstrong utilizes the LexisNexis
Background Investigation, which includes employment, credit, criminal/sexual offender histories and
Motor Vehicle Record, along with drug and alcohol tests. All of the driver candidate’s past employers
for the last 10 years are contacted to confirm work history. If a driver candidate’s profile reflects any
issues with respect to the results of a background investigation, templates are utilized to advise the
candidate that the background check revealed evidence that requires further investigation. Random
testing is performed throughout the year.
During the move process, Armstrong requires that when a client’s goods are either on a truck on in the
process of loading/unloading, all items are to be constantly monitored and never left unattended. Also,
if items are required to be left on a truck overnight, the truck or trailer must either be secured at the
client’s location or at an Armstrong approved warehouse facility. Truck/trailer doors must always be
locked and, when possible, must be backed up to either a solid wall or a loading dock that prevents
entry through the back, rollup door. If high-valued electronics are stored on trucks/trailers overnight,
drivers are to park the truck/trailer inside Armstrong’s secured warehouse to provide extra security. If
none of these options are available, Armstrong will provide a security guard to monitor the
trucks/trailer through the night.

D. PACKING & HANDLING ELECTRONIC/COMPUTER & SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
Armstrong packs computer equipment onto carts similar to book carts, called machine carts. These
carts have fewer, deeper shelves and are specifically designed for the movement of desktop computers
and associated peripherals. All computer accessories (mouse, keyboard, cords, etc.) are packed into
anti-static computer bags. Each item is placed carefully onto the cart and monitors and CPUs are
wrapped with anti-static bubble wrap, providing extra padding to prevent movement during the
shipment. Each cart is then draped with a moving pad and securely shrink-wrapped to ensure nothing
shifts or falls off the cart during the move process. This process has been proven to be the most
efficient, safe method of moving electronics to ensure that warranties stay intact.
When moving specialized equipment and electronic servers, Armstrong packers have been trained to
determine whether or not vendor preparation is needed to ensure warranties are not voided. Vendor
preparation may consist of special crating prior to Armstrong packing the equipment. If vendor
preparation is not needed, Armstrong crews ensure that all items are wrapped with anti-static bubble
wrap, padded and racked separately.
E. FLOOR AND WALL PROTECTION
Armstrong protects the existing and new space during the move against building any damages. This
protection includes: ¼ inch Masonite floor protection, duct taped together to avoid shifting or
movement; corrugated wall protection secured to the walls using painters tape to minimize any wall
damage; corner guards on all active corner areas; and door pads to protect doors and door jams. In
addition, in long carpeted corridors, carpet mask if often used instead of Masonite to provide the
necessary protection. Carpet mask can be laid faster and removed quicker, resulting in cost savings for
the client. Also, if needed, Armstrong provides wall protection inside the elevators that will be used
throughout the move.
F. DAMAGE/LOSS CLAIMS PROCESS
In the event of a claim, Armstrong manages the process internally with its dedicated claims personnel.
Any claim not immediately identified or filed within 72 hours post-delivery will be settled within 30
days of claim submission. Armstrong’s in-house claims process is explained via the following steps:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

Claim form sent to transferee per request within 24 hrs.
Client is contacted within 72 hrs. to set appointment
Visual survey is performed to assess damage, when applicable
Report with photos is returned to Armstrong’s claims department

8. Client will sign releases and their claim file is closed
9. In cases where the client does not agree with settlement, Armstrong offers third party

ARMSTRONG CAPABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
A. FURNITURE DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY
Armstrong crews have been trained to disassemble and reassemble most major brands of systems and
casegoods furniture. Every move project is evaluated prior to work commencing, at which time
brands/types of furniture requiring disassembly/reassembly are identified. Armstrong ensures that
there is at least one or more qualified crew members to complete this work.
B. MINOR DAMAGE REPAIR
Armstrong crews are trained to complete minor furniture repairs immediately if needed. Crew
members always inform and discuss any repairs with the client prior to making any repairs. Typical
immediate repairs include: scratch repair with wood repair pencils or pens and minor wood repair
with standard wood glue, etc. Any repairs requiring extensive work are to be handled through
Armstrong’s standard claims process and repaired according to the claims department’s instructions.
C. LABELING ITEMS
Labeling and pre-planning is a key factor of the moving process. The time spent on labeling and preplanning will eventually determine the efficiency and cost of the move itself. All items to be moved
must be labeled to show the proper location in the new space. Chair floor mats and wastepaper baskets
should also be labeled, along with each part of an item requiring disassembly into several parts (i.e.
desk drawers, individual bookshelves, etc.).
A full scale floor plan labeled with numbers should be posted on each floor in the main entryway.
Corresponding placards should also be hung outside the respective offices or cubicles. Armstrong’s
personnel are trained and experienced in reading blueprints, enabling all of the crew to assume
responsible roles during placement of furniture.
See the example of the full scale, numbered floor plan:
Armstrong’s move labels are colored to identify the area to which the item is being located and to
designate the floor, room, and piece number. Employees can identify the arrangement of their work
area by hanging a floor plan of the layout of their office, which coincides with the piece numbers on the
move labels to ensure correct placement.
Labeling guidelines:
A. Each item to be moved must be tagged or clearly marked.
Confidential
Building Trust. Reducing Stress. Delivering Reliability. Around the World.
B. Color coded labels are available at no cost and printed labels and directional signage are
available for an additional charge. Each label should be legible and written in ink.
C. Specific and detailed code assignments designating floor, room, and piece number must be
provided to Armstrong. Any changes made to the final drawings could result in project delays.
D. Furniture requiring disassembly should have all pieces labeled in the same color and with the
same information.
E. All labels should be placed in clearly visible areas. Do not place labels directly on fabric.
Folding one corner of the label when placing it on the item will facilitate easy removal after the
move.

D. ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT & COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
Once placed on the cart, machines are carefully padded, monitors are
wrapped with anti-static bubble wrap and the entire cart is shrink-wrapped to ensure the machines
stay in place during transit. These carts are not delivered ahead of time, but brought with the service
crews at the start of the move.
See examples of the computer bags, carts and pads used during the moving process:
E. FILE SYSTEMS
The process used to move a file system depends largely on the system being moved. There are many
different types of systems, from basic file cabinet systems to large, high density rolling file systems.
Many file cabinets can be moved completely or partially full, depending on the size and style of
cabinet. Armstrong identifies these items and seeks direction during the initial walk-throughs and
move training meetings. For larger file systems that must be completely emptied to be moved,
Armstrong provides library carts and labor (if requested) to load and secure the files onto these carts
in addition to moving them. These items are discussed and solutions are provided on a case-by-case
basis.
