Setting up NC Wise Gradebook Log into NCWISE: From your teacher desktop, double-click the NCWISE (FireFox) icon. NRMPS Database = lea640 Setup is done for Elementary Schools Gradebook at the beginning of each year. 1. Click on Setup Options at bottom left. 2. Click Preferences. Page 1 of 8 7/31/2017 3. My Options Tab 3.1. Total Points is grayed out. This is an LEA decision. 3.2. Posting Type Report Cycle is already selected and grayed out. 3.3. Check Use Assignment Weights. 3.4. Uncheck Use Assignment Type Weights and uncheck Use Category Weights. 3.5. Check View Report Cycle Weights. 3.6. Change Failure Threshold to 70. 3.7. Check Delete Assignments at Year End. 3.8. Leave Allow Shared Access to Student Progress checked. 3.9. Leave Rounding Grades checked. 3.10. Uncheck Count Blank Marks as Zeros. 3.11. SAVE (the floppy disk icon) 4. My Comments Option Tab- Leave alone 3.1 3.3 5. My Preps Tab At least one prep must be entered. If you grade all subjects/classes/sections alike, you need only create ONE prep for the year. 3.8 Under Prep Description enter a name (For example- Smith, A Grade 2 Math 3.4 3.9 3.5 3.10 3.7 3. Click Detail. Page 2 of 8 7/31/2017 Start on the left under Prep Classes. Click Select Classes. Check mark all classes that apply to this prep under the Assign column. Click OK. Prep Classes Report Cycles will populate. Prep Category- on first line type General. Check default. Prep Assignment Types- Click Add. Page 3 of 8 7/31/2017 Check General in the Assign column. Click OK. Save & go through the blue door. 6. My Comments Tab These are comments that can be created by the teacher and assigned to a particular assignment. This is optional and will be for progress reports only, not report cards. 7. School Mark Scale Tab-This has been set up by your NCWISE Data Manager. 8. Save & Close by going through the blue door Page 4 of 8 7/31/2017 Entering New Assignments To input new assessments into your grade book: 1. Click on the Class for which you are entering the new assignment. 2. Click on the Spreadsheet button. 3. Click the Add Assignment button Page 5 of 8 7/31/2017 1. Type in the name of your assignment briefly, then press tab. 2. Short name populates (this field is limited to 5 characters). You may change if you like. 3. The Numeric Score Max default = 100. 4. Remember our category = General. 5. The Assignment Type = General. 6. The Assign, Due, and Create dates will default to the day you key in the assignment. The dates cannot be non-school days. Dates determine order in gradebook. 7. To add the assignment to other classes- click Add This Assignment to Other Classes. Click Copy Selected Info To All and then uncheck the classes you don’t want this assignment copied to. 8. Save. 1 2 6 3 4 5 8 7 Page 6 of 8 7/31/2017 Entering Grades 1. Click the Enter Grade/Comments button. 1 2. Verify the correct class, reporting term, and assignment. 3. Input grades for the assignment by entering the grades in the correct column…use the down arrow key or the enter key to move from student to student. 4. The Late check box and the Exempt check box can be used if desired. Assign comments to the assignment if desired. 5. Click on Save and Exit if only grades for one new assignment are to be added for this class. 6. Click on Add if additional new assignments are to be added for this class. 7. Click on the drop down arrow next to Class and then click Add for adding new assignments to a different class. 2&7 3 4 4 6 4 5 Page 7 of 8 7/31/2017 Delete An Assignment 1) To delete assessments from your grade book: a) Click on the Class in which you are deleting the assessment. b) Click on the Spreadsheet button c) Click on the View/Change Assignment button d) Verify that the correct class appears in the Class field e) Verify the correct reporting term and adjust if needed f) Click on the assessment you wish to remove g) Click the Remove this Assignment from Class button h) Check to be sure this is the assessment you wish to remove…then click Yes i) Click the Save button…then click the View All button (very important) j) Identify and click on the assessment you wish to remove from the View All list k) Click on the Delete Assessment button, then click Save and Exit 4) Special Note: If the assessment you wish to remove was added to other classes when you first entered it, it must be removed from ALL those classes before the program will allow you to remove it completely from the grade book. If you receive an error message saying that the assessment cannot be removed it is because you have not removed it from ALL classes. Page 8 of 8 7/31/2017
