See below for explanation of Human Subjects Research courses/curriculum. Question 1: Human Subjects Research Choose the appropriate Human Subject Research Training Biomedical researchers should choose this course. If your research protocol is not related to biomedical initiatives, then all others should choose this course. This course is designed to supplement an instructor’s/professor’s classroom exercise and does not satisfy IRB Training requirements when submitting an IRB application If your research includes data or lab specimens of human subjects, AND the researcher will not have any direct contact with human subjects, then this training can be used Page 1 of 2 IRB Human Subjects Training Guide (Continued) CITI Website: https://www.citiprogram.org CITI Instructions (Existing Certificate Holder) Step 1: Go to Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) webpage, select existing users and enter username and password Step 2: Select Choose Course, then go to Question 3 and select the course applicable to your study or if your certificate has expired, then select the Refresher Course to complete and satisfy the training requirement (see below). Question 3: Human Subjects Research refresher training in CITI Choose the appropriate Human Subject Research Training Biomedical researchers should choose this course If your research protocol is not related to biomedical initiatives, then all others should choose this course If your research includes data or lab specimens of human subjects, AND the researcher will not have any direct contact with human subjects, then this training can be used CITI Instructions (Newly hired faculty or staff with existing CITI account) Step 1: Go to Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) webpage, select existing users and enter username and password Step 2: Affiliate your profile with Rowan University – Note: Remove affiliation with prior organization Step 3: Choose/select the course you most recently completed at your prior institution. For example, if you have a certificate of completion for a human subject’s refresher course, then select the human subjects refresher course in your Rowan University profile Step 4: Click on update my profile, and provide new title, phone number, email address, and all other information that will complete your profile accurately.
