Judging Criteria for Vegetables
Beetroot (Globe)
Spherical, of approximately 60-75mm in diameter with a single taproot and smooth skin of a
uniform colour. Foliage trimmed to approximately 75mm.

Carrots (Long Pointed)
Long-pointed carrots have large, long taproots that can often reach one metre in
length. The taproot gradually tapers over its length ending in a fine root.

Courgettes
Young, tender fruits of good uniform shape and colour, approximately 150mm in
length and approximately 25-35mm in diameter. Round cultivars should be

Heaviest Marrow
Must be showed with no cracks, or holes into the cavity and no major rotten spots and must
be washed clean. The entire stem and 1 inch (2.5cm) of vine on either side is allowed, The
colour must be green or light yellow. Green marrows may have light green strips.

Garlic must be clean and in sound condition. The stem must be cut off as close to the cloves
as possible. The roots should also be cut off, just under the basal plate.

Judging Criteria for Flowers
The following guidelines are for all classes listed below. All material in the exhibit should be
at peak condition, clean, fresh and blemish free. All items in the exhibit should be alike in
age, size and form. All cut flowers must be staged in water.
