JOB TITLE
Project Manager – Career Development and Training
MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB
This is an exciting opportunity to join IRMO’s team to deliver a new project
Move Up! Improving the working lives and social mobility of Latin American
migrants. The project will make a real difference by supporting low paid
workers to improve their lives by moving into better paid jobs and out of inwork poverty. The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating the
project, providing advice and mentoring, liaising with employers and training
providers, and supporting and training volunteers.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Funded by Trust for London and the Walcot Foundation as part of the Step
Up Programme, this new project will support over 100 low paid Latin
Americans to build on their existing skills, experience and qualifications to
improve their employment prospects through individualised advice and
support, organising training and work placements and liaising with
employers. There will be three main approaches:
1. supporting those with professional qualifications to gain work experience
in their sector and get their qualifications recognised
2. supporting those with previous experience in construction and social care
to get the necessary documents to work in the UK in these sectors
3. providing ongoing advice on labour rights and case work to deal with
employment abuses and support campaigns to improve working
conditions
The project will build on IRMO’s existing work on employment and training
and as such the post holder will be expected to work closely with other team
members to ensure a joined up service.
