Floristry Beginners
Single Rose Button hole
MATERIALS AND TOOL LIST
• You will need
• 1 single large head rose
• Two medium size clean
ivy leaves with stem on.
• A pair of floristry
scissors
• 28 gauge silver floristry
wire.
• Green floristry tape.
To Begin- Step One
First cut the flower head off the rose
at just below the head, insert a
single 56 gauge wire into the
stem.
Then take a 28 gauge single rose wire
to insert into the calyx of the rose
head and secure round the stem.
Cut off any excess wire.
Once the rose is mounted wrap
green florist tape around the
stem and wire to secure and
maintain moisture.
• Single head roses need to be
internally support wired, spray
roses need only a single silver
rose wire28 gauge with a single
leg mount.
Step Two
• For the ivy leaves, insert a 28
gauge silver wire through the
centre of rib line of the leaf
before folding the ends of the
wire downwards and wrapping
them around the stem.
• Cut Excess wire and stem and
tape with flora tape to secure and
maintain moisture.
• Tape each of the ivy leaves the
same way.
Step Three- putting together.
• This is the final step.
• Placing the ivy leafs behind the
rose and in front grip firmly
but lightly and with a finial
piece of flora tape secure and
tape together trim any excess
and ensure the end is
completely covered an no wire
is visible.
• You now have a finished single
rose button hole.
