POST: School Games Organiser
RESPONSIBLE TO: Faculty Leader of Creative and Performing Arts

SALARY: Kent Scheme 8 (£24,034 – £27,545 per annum FTE)
LOCATION: Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey
WORKING PATTERN: 8:00am – 16:00pm (35 minute lunch)

JOB PURPOSE:
To help manage and co-ordinate the planning and implementation of levels one and two of the School
Games Programme in the Sheppey and Swale School Sports Partnership (SSP) that will lead to
progression onto level three at a County level. To increase the number of young people actively
engaged in sport and high quality competition.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The engagement of as many schools (state and independent that cater for young people aged 5-18) as
possible within the SSP in levels 1 and 2 of the School Games Programme.

Ensure the provision of both inclusive and targeted opportunities for young disabled people to access
the School Games, including the staging of specific “Paralympic themed” local events.

Helping to deliver the Sheppey and Swale School Games event programme in a wide variety of sports
throughout the year.

Ensure the development of the cultural component to the School Games.

Work with state secondary schools to sustain and develop further the Change4life clubs. Establish a
network of Change4life clubs in the primary sector. Provide access to specialist coaches, training and
equipment to assist schools (and particularly primary/special schools) in delivering a range of lunchtime
and after school programmes.

Undertake liaison with the County Sports Partnership and National Governing Bodies to ensure that the
local competition programme delivers the sport’s national framework contributes to the sport’s player
pathway and develops appropriate exit routes for the young people into community sport.

Support with running the Sheppey and Swale Leadership Academy giving students the opportunity to
access coaching qualifications.

To develop, coordinate and deliver high quality sport opportunities and competitions for school aged
children within the Borough of Sheppey and Swale within the Sheppey and Swale Sport Partnership
Structure.

Plan and develop a calendar for Sheppey and Swale schools that consists of
sports competitions which fits in with the National Governing Body (NGBs) of
Sports framework providing intra and inter competition pathway for pupils.

Provide cluster sport competitions in a variety of target sports in partnership
with the School Games Coordinators.

Provide whole partnership sport competition (Inter sport level 2) opportunities for Primary and Secondary
schools.

Coordinate meetings with partners including NGB’s representatives to ensure sport specific objectives
are being achieved.

Work with Sheppey and Swale School Games Coordinators and design a yearly plan of sport
competitions for each cluster of primary schools

Collate evidence and data which will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation process which will
feedback to the Director of Sport

Work in partnership with the other South East England representatives to coordinate termly sport
festivals for intra school competitions (previous county finals)

To participate in the hub site PE Department activities when required

Work in collaboration with Sheppey and Swale Schools PE Departments to assist with developing young
sports leaders and provide young sports leaders with the opportunity to assist with school sport
competitions at intra and inter level

Assist in coordinating teams for the yearly School Games Pan Kent event

Work with the hub site and partners to identify new funding opportunities with the main aim of securing
future funding for the programme

Develop sports links to local clubs and community providers to develop sustainable exit routes

Undertake administration duties including website development, devising clear and comprehensive
information for schools regarding competition dates, venues, rules etc marketing sport opportunities to a
variety of target markets

To promote the success of sport competitions to partners, external websites and press where necessary


from time to time.



