CHAPTER 2 God Comes to Save His People – Pg. 31 - 35 • The story of Jesus begins with the eternal God, before creation. • St. John’s Gospel states: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.” John 1:1-3a Jesus is the “logos” from the Greek which means “word.” ___________. Jesus is the Word made flesh. • Jesus becomes human born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is the only Son of God. • He has a unique relationship with God the Father. • All creation came to be through the Word of God. • Jesus and the Father are one. • Jesus is the second person of the Blessed Trinity. The Blessed Trinity is three persons in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God the father is __________. God the son is ___________ God the Holy Spirit is _____________ and makes us holy. The Holy Spirit pours out his gifts upon us through prayer and grace. Gifts of the Holy Spirit: • Reflection: Which gift of the Spirit do you need the most right now and why? God created the whole world, in all its goodness, beauty, and order. God created our first parents in a state of ______________ and ________. • Harmony existed between a man and woman and between the first humans and creation.
