Curriculum development: funded by the Culpeper Foundation to develop a course called
“Experiments in Field Biology” focused on training students in the scientific process and the
formal presentation of results to peers; initiated “Tropical Ecology and Conservation" in
2001, in which students develop a proposal and complete their research in Costa Rica, to
gain hands-on experience with all phases of scientific process.
