Ring Bros., a family owned establishment, was founded on the cobblestone streets of Salem,
Massachusetts in 1925. In 2010 we are celebrating our 85th year in the produce industry and our
23rd year as a consolidated produce and dairy distributor. We also own and operate two upscale
retail stores, Ring Brothers Marketplace, which is located adjacent to our wholesale facility in
Dennis, Massachusetts and Broadway Marketplace, located near Harvard Square in Cambridge.

Our storage facility features four distinct temperature zones that properly maintain vegetables,
fruits, dairy, cheeses, cakes and frozen foods. We have a modern fleet of refrigerated and ―freezer
equipped‖ vehicles, operated by courteous, professional drivers, to assure that your order arrives
on time and in perfect condition.

FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM
At Ring Bros. Wholesale food safety is an integral part of our entire operation. It also includes non-production
items such as training of employees and training materials.
Food Safety is not a static program. It is dynamic in nature. Management actions ensure that Food Safety fits
comfortably into the overall objective of Ring Bros. Wholesale.
The goal of the food safety program is to institute a proactive system for its operation whereby any potential
product hazards are anticipated and controlled from product reception through distribution. Food safety and
quality control is the responsibility of all the employees of Ring Bros. Wholesale, affiliated services and product
providers. Management has provided the tools and established guidelines for producing safe, wholesome, quality
products. All employees are accountable for consistently maintaining these standards.
The food safety program has been established with the help of the company officers. Although the burden of food
safety and quality control is in the hands of management and supervisors, all employees serve as inspectors when
product moves through their area. Ring Bros. Wholesale’s employees are authorized to hold or reject product
found to be out of compliance, subject to the evaluation and final approval of authorized management.
What Does The Program Consist Of?
The purpose of this food safety plan is to help ensure that environmental conditions and plant practices are sound
and reduce the risk of producing unsafe products.
This plan is designed to address specific points of our process, according to the type of product we market, the
material used and the operations associated with the temporary storage, preparation and display of the product.
The use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) assists us in
providing safe and high quality products.
What are GMPs?
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are federal regulations detailed in
21CFR Part 110 regarding the manufacturing, packing and holding of
human food which oblige manufacturers to control the risk of filth,
chemical, microbiological and other contaminants in food that may be
harmful to humans.
Our GMPs include, but are not limited to: the associated risk,
observations, and preventative measures of employee practices, storage
practices, product preparation procedures and equipment condition/use.
Adhering to GMPs can reduce the risk of contaminants from all three
categories; microbiological, physical or chemical.
What is a SOP?
A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is a description of a particular
task or instructions that someone follows to complete a job safely and in a
way that maximizes operational and production requirements. SOPs can
help ensure that government regulations are satisfied and can also serve as
an explanation of steps in a process if a recall is to occur.

ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Recycling Program
Did you know that 65% of the paper used for corrugated board manufacturing is comprised of
virgin wood pulp and remaining is 35% recycled? A few years ago 76% of all corrugated board
made in the US was recycled. The reason for this is that it is now easy and economically feasible
for businesses to recycle.
Recycling is the right thing to do on the Cape. Diverting material from
trash dumpsters to recycling bins saves everyone money. Recycling
employs thousands of people across the Commonwealth. Corrugated
cardboard is a bulky, highly recyclable waste. Keeping this material out of
the waste stream will mean saving landfill space in areas where disposed
materials are landfilled and reducing pollution through avoided
incineration where waste is incinerated.
Ring Bros. recycles all cardboard and paper on a daily basis by having it hauled to recycling plants.
We reuse the corrugated containers our products arrive in from farms and manufacturers. Virtually
all of the cardboard that enters our warehouse is recycled. Since starting our recycling program,
Ring Bros. has reduced our waste that enters landfills on Cape by more than 65%. We needed to
improve how we dealt with trash if we want to live in a clean and naturally beautiful place.
When your produce arrives in a recycled box, SMILE because we are
helping to save our local landfills!
Energy Conservation
In an effort to reduce our electricity usage in our facility we have
converted 100% of our fixtures to high efficiency florescent. Our walk-in
produce coolers have undergone a complete fan motor retrofit, replacing
motors with a high efficiency product. Computers have been installed to
control these motors so that they run only when needed. When it is cold
enough outside, the refrigeration is turned off, and cold air from outside
is blown into the coolers to maintain temperature.
Using less energy saves our company money while protecting the
environment.

Christina's features many flavors of homemade ice creams to choose from. To mention a
few would be, burnt sugar, ginger ice cream, coconut almond chip, and the list goes on and
on. Christina's also offers an array of sorbets. Ring Bros. stocks a few basic ice cream flavors, and a bunch of sorbet flavors. If there is something you would like us to get for you
we can, it will just take a week or so because Christina’s makes all of their ice cream to order. We pick up ice cream on a weekly basis from Christina’s and we are proud to be their
exclusive distributor on Cape Cod. Try some, and you will see that it is some of the best ice
cream you have ever had!
