Experimental Design

I can identify the independent variable,
dependent variable, constant variables and the
control group in an experiment story.

Independent variable
◦ the thing “I” test or change in the experiment.

Dependent variable
◦ The thing that changes because of the independent
variable

Constant variables
◦ The things in the experiment that must stay the
same, so that we know it’s the independent variable
causing the effect.

Control group
◦ The set up in the experiment that you compare your
results to.

Elizabeth tested how high 5 different brands of tennis balls
would bounce when dropped from a height of 2 meters. She
dropped the balls so that they hit the same floor tile each time.
