Milton Berle once said, “Laughter is an instant vacation!” Campers this week will learn
the art of comedy. In addition to a wide range of our zany drama activities, campers
will learn and rehearse improv skills and practice bolster general performing skills, such
as projection and articulation. (Please note that LCDS is not a nut-free facility.)

June 20-24, 9:00-4:00 – Superheroes Camp

Nothing says summer vacation like taking a break from our regular lives to become
Superheroes! Boys and girls alike will enjoy this fantasy-inspired camp. Students will be
able to create their own superhero stories and act out some of their favorite classic
superhero tales. The emphasis is on imagination for this camp!

June 27-July 1, 9:00-4:00 – Acting Academy: Show
Production Camp
Ages 11-18
At the Dulles Studio

Middle and high school students will love to take the reins in this camp! They will
become playwrights, polish their acting skills, and learn how a production is put
together. They will learn how to begin work on a production and how to bring all the
pieces together to put on a show. At the end of the week, they will perform a show
written by them!

July 11-15, 9:00-4:00 – Tales from Far Away Lands Camp

Take a vacation this summer while staying right here in Northern Virginia. This camp
explores theatre around the world. The campers will learn about different cultures while
getting to act out folk tales from far away lands. It’ll be a blast!

Everyone loves a good mystery! And the only thing better than watching a whodunit
play is being in it! The campers will get to create their own mysteries and act out
scripted skits as well. Mysteries are a great opportunity to practice improv skills as well—
you never know what ending the audience might choose!

August 1-5, 9:00-4:00 – Once Upon a Time Camp
Ages 6-12
At St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church

Does your child love Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Goldilocks and the Three
Bears? Join us as our campers show off their creativity while they explore the exciting
world of fairy tales! Children will play fun theatre games while learning dramatic
techniques, such as projection and articulation. They will have a ball playing their
favorite fairy tale characters!

August 8-12, 9:00-4:00 – Acting Academy: Medieval
Playhouse Camp

One of the best parts about acting is getting to take on characters that are completely
different from ourselves! This camp will challenge the students to act out scenes from
medieval times. They’ll get to try out accents and mannerisms as they explore scenes
from long ago.
