35 hours per week including occasional weekend and evening work
depending on needs of the service.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Passage has a long history of supporting homeless people into employment,
giving them skills, income and confidence to transform their lives and put their
homelessness firmly behind them. In 2016 alone, our Employment, Training and
Welfare Rights Team helped over 100 homeless people get back into work.
The Passage is both proud of and grateful for its support from various businesses.
In collaboration with The Goring Hotel and Westminster Kingsway College, The
Passage is excited to be launching a new training and employment scheme,
assisting clients to develop new skills and establishing a clear progression into
work, supported by local businesses in the Victoria area.
JOB PURPOSE:
 To co-ordinate and promote the development of a training programme to help
homeless, insecurely housed and formerly homeless people gain new
qualifications and enter the local hospitality industry
 To maintain and build new relationships with local businesses to establish
progression routes into work
 To provide ongoing support via a voluntary mentor scheme to ensure
sustainability of job outcomes and a true transformation of life away from the
streets.

MAIN DUTIES:
 To work closely with all key staff and external partners to promote the
programme to clients, and manage a supportive and transparent recruitment
process.
 To provide ongoing support to clients participating in the programme, including
using motivational techniques, providing encouragement and additional support
where necessary
 Support external hospitality trainers and facilitators to deliver the full training
programme, problem solving and addressing any issues along the way.
 Liaise closely with other Passage staff and external agencies to ensure that the
hospitality training is working in line with a full support plan that addresses
housing, health, welfare rights and other needs.
 Identifying talent and skills, re-directing clients to other training or employment
programmes where necessary to ensure that clients who leave the programme
before completion are moving on positively.
 Build excellent working relationships with local employers in the hospitality
industry to facilitate seamless moves from training into employment
 Work with mentoring schemes to support clients when they begin work
 Monitor the progress of each individual client and keep clear records of the
programme’s outputs and outcomes
 Promote the programme externally and work alongside key stakeholders in order
to ensure the programme is sustainable.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 To participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal, and help identifying
your own job-related development and training needs.
 To participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training
events, conferences and other functions when necessary.
 To ensure that all Passage policies and procedures are being adhered to,
particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Code of Practice and
Confidentiality.
 To contribute to the effective implementation of the Passage’s Equality and
Diversity Policy as it affects both the Passage and its work.
 To at all times undertake the role in a professional manner maintaining a high
quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims,

 To work in a professional manner maintaining a flexible attitude towards short
notice rota changes to facilitate primary service cover, e.g. during training and
staff illness.
 To undertake any other duties that may be required which are commensurate
with the role.
